1990 BMW (E30) 325i TOURING

This BMW (E30) 325i Touring is a well-maintained example of the marque’s stylish modern classic estate, which has been enjoyed as intended but presents in good order. Under the bonnet sits the 2.5-litre ‘M20’ straight-six producing around 168bhp and 164lb-ft of torque, coupled with a four-speed ZF automatic transmission. The odometer currently indicates 162,051 miles from new.

First registered in November 1990, this BMW has been in the hands of its current keeper for two years, and has just two previous keepers on the V5C.

The bodywork is all in good shape, while its Malachite Green paintwork has been described as being in fair condition. The vendor has pointed out a number of age-related blemishes, including some notable wear on the bonnet and roof, as well as some light scratches on the wings and doors. Some scratching can be seen on the body trims, while the driver’s door trim is held in place with a temporary fix. The vehicle rides on a set of 15-inch wheels, which display some similar age-related scuffs and discolouration.

Inside, the beige cloth trim is reported to be in good condition for its age, and the driver’s seat has been replaced. The vendor reports the passenger seat has some slight staining, while the rear headlining has started to peel away. A few tears can be seen in the rear seats, which also have some discoloration. The stitching on the gear selector has started to fray, though the dashboard trim is sound, and all of the electrics are believed to work as they should.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in March 2021, where technicians at Turner Automotive Ltd carried out BMW’s Inspection II service, replacing the engine oil, filter, spark plugs, brake fluid and differential oil. Prior to this, in October 2018 at 161,328 miles, an oil service and brake fluid replacement was carried out, while the engine oil and cambelt were replaced in October 2017 at 160,450 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 March 2021, which resulted in a pass with defects noted as deteriorated front lower suspension arm ball joint dust covers, and advisories that included some corrosion on the rear suspension mountings and front coil springs, a worn rear anti-roll bar link pin or bush, and slightly deteriorated gearbox bushes. The tyres are reported to have around 3mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s manual in its factory leather case, along with a selection of maintenance invoices.

This BMW E30 325i Touring is a sound example of the marque’s iconic estate, with timelessly elegant styling and genuine practicality. This estate has been driven as intended and would make a great candidate for some sympathetic restoration, though it is presented in good working order and is ready to enjoy as-is.
