• This 1989 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa is a smart example of the marque’s limited-edition 1980s supercar, fitted with some appealing modifications.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• A specification summary from Porsche Cars Australia notes that the car was originally finished in Guards Red over black linen, with equipment including a leather steering wheel, a locking differential, a leatherette gear lever, stone guards, sport seats with electric height adjustment, velour boot carpet and an additional amplifier. 
• It has since been fitted with a Metallic Racing Green wrap, over a reupholstered cream leather interior. 
• The car features the correct ‘tea tray’ rear spoiler, and rides on 16-inch black and silver Fuchs-style wheels framing red brake callipers and wrapped in mixed Toyo Proxes and Bridgestone Potenza tyres. 
• It features a replacement ‘GTS Top’ transparent Targa roof from GTN Automotive, made with a carbon-composite framework and a nano-coated dark grey-tinted Makrolon polycarbonate window. It comes with a storage bag, and can be kept behind the front seats. 
• Inside, equipment now includes a three-spoke Momo steering wheel, climate control and Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB radio. 
• The engine has been upgraded with an electric fuel injection system and a new intercooler. 
• The ride height was raised by 30mm by East Coast Suspensions. 
• Accompanying the vehicle will be the original Targa roof, a spare wheel, its GTN Automotive roof invoice and manual, a specification summary from Porsche Cars Australia, and a collection of photographs and maintenance invoices. 

CONDITION

• A Carfax report indicates that the car suffered damage in May 2003.

• Specific notes from the seller include: the Metallic Racing Green wrap is protected by PPF. 

SERVICE HISTORY

• In March 2024, the Porsche specialist Autowerks replaced the roof and the fuel injection relays.
• The engine oil and filter were reportedly changed in January 2024. 
• In March 2023, Autowerks replaced tie rod assemblies, both outer sway bar bushes and the steering rack pinion support groove bearing, and also reassembled a battery line fuse in an attempt to rectify a lack of power to the radio. 
• In October 2021, the head unit was replaced and the front speakers were repaired by ProFit Automotive. 
• In April 2021, the oil filter, fuel filter, rear turbo fuel pump, bonnet struts, brake fluid, oil level sender unit, bonnet shocks, alternator housing, alternator fan, fan belt, spark plugs, rear engine heat/dust seal and oil breather hose were replaced. 

SUMMARY

This 1989 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa is a smart example of the marque’s lauded 1980s supercar, understood to be one of only 193 examples built. Imported to Australia from the USA and now fitted with some appealing modifications, including a transparent Targa roof, it would make a great addition to any assembly of Stuttgart’s finest, and a capable companion for weekend drives.
