1989 PORSCHE 911 (930) TURBO CABRIOLET

This 930-generation Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is a rare and striking modern classic, finished in an appealing factory colours scheme, and equipped with the desirable ‘G50’ gearbox. Under the rear spoiler rests an air-cooled, 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six producing 296bhp and 278lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 72,782 miles.

First registered on 26 January 1989, this UK-market example remains in highly original condition throughout, with the vendor understanding that only 50 G50-equipped Turbo Cabriolets were ever delivered to the UK market. This example is also understood to be fitted with a sports exhaust system, providing even greater aural delight when on the move.

Finished in the handsome shade of Baltic Blue, all panels on this 911 retain an even shine thanks to recent attention from a professional detailer. Some minor stone chips are visible on the front bumper and low-slung bonnet, while the black stone chip guards ahead of the rear wheel arches are largely unmarked. Some small chafing marks are visible on the rear impact bumper, while the plastic headlight and taillight lenses show signs of aging but no damage.

The blue soft top hood was fitted in September 2013 by Autotrim UK, and appears to be in pristine condition, with no discolouration or damage, and with a clear and crease-free rear window. This example rides on the iconic 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, replete with black-painted ‘petal’ spokes, having been replaced in 2016.

Inside, the 911’s striking combination of dark blue leather with cream centre panels and piping continues the colour theme. Both front electrically adjustable sports seats show modest signs of wear, but are in generally superb condition for their age. The steering wheel has a gently worn patina, as does the gear knob, in line with the relatively low mileage. An aftermarket JVC stereo and speakers have been installed, but otherwise the cabin is believed to remain entirely original. The vendor adds that all switchgear and electrics are in working order.

The most recent service was carried out in December 2020 by Knowl Hill Performance of Twyford. This was a major service, with the replacement of all fluids and filters, spark plugs, drive belt, various gaskets and seals, as well as the fitment of a new battery and a replacement turbocharger. The bill for this work came to £3,315. Prior to this, a minor service was undertaken in September 2019 by the same garage, with a 2016 service was carried out by marque specialist Wrightune of Oxford.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 March 2021 at 72,782 miles. This was a first-time pass with zero advisories. Wearing matched Continental PremiumContact 2 rubber all round, these tyres remain in good order with ample tread remaining.
