1988 PORSCHE 944 TURBO - 22,515 MILES FROM NEW

This Porsche 944 Turbo is an exceptionally low-mileage example of the 1980s sports car, presented in a lesser-seen colour scheme and benefiting from nearly £15,000 worth of mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. Under the bonnet is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 217bhp and 243lb-ft of torque, delivering power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer shows just 22,515 miles.

This example was first registered on 4 April 1988 and remains in original condition throughout. With only three owners to date, both the first and second keepers were in Jersey – accounting for the very low mileage – before it was imported to the UK and re-registered in 2019.

Finished in the very rare shade of Nougat Brown; the Porsche’s bodywork presents in very good order. There are no obvious imperfections, save for the small mark visible on the passenger side of the rear bumper, which has been touched in. Even the body-coloured trim panels, headlights, taillights and badging are in excellent order, while the pop-up headlights operate perfectly. Wearing the correct flat-face alloy wheels, these are in excellent condition with no kerbing damage or lacquer blemishes.

Inside, the 944’s cabin is as impressive as the exterior. There is some wear on the driver’s seat outer bolster, and a small area of stitching on the passenger seat that needs attention, but otherwise it is in remarkable condition for its age. Even the period-correct Panasonic Alphatuner cassette deck is retained, adding to the ‘time warp’ feel. The vendor adds that all electronics remain in good condition, with no warning lights visible on the dashboard.

This 944 was most recently serviced on 18 January 2021 at 22,408 miles, when the oil was replaced. Prior to this, a major service was undertaken on 12 July 2019 and another on 18 May 2018, when the brake fluid was also replaced. In the last three years, the brake discs and pads have been replaced, with a new starter motor and battery fitted. New windscreen trims and seals have been fitted, along with door switches for the interior lights as well as replacement speakers. A replacement exhaust system has also been fitted along with new armrests and rear light replacements. In total, invoices over the last three years total some £15,000.

The most recent MOT test was on 21 August 2020 at 22,316 miles, which was passed at the first time of asking and with no advisories. It rides on Falken tyres all round with approximately 7mm of tread remaining.

This Porsche 944 Turbo is a superb example of the transaxle performance model, boasting not only a rare colourway but also having remarkably low mileage for its age, thanks largely to its island life on Jersey. With a significant recent investment in recommissioning and refurbishing the car, it would make a compelling addition to a collection of sports cars – and one which is ready to be enjoyed on the road immediately.
