CONDITION

• The vendor believes there was some body damage in the past, but that this was repaired. However, the car is HPI clear.
• There is some damage to the nearside rear bumper, and some signs rust on the boot shut, bonnet, and both rear wheel arches - but overall the bodywork is very solid. A few small dents are also present along each side, though the paint is not damaged on any of these. The driver’s door has a small scratch under the M stripes
• Its so-called ‘C3-PO’ lower front right tray has been sealed and painted, and the front and rear strut towers have also been repaired and refinished. The underside of the side skirts have some paint flaking away, but overall the car is still presentable as the photo gallery shows.
• The replacement black leather interior is in very good order, with minor wear to the driver’s seat upper bolster. There is a small crack in the driver’s door card.
• There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
• The most recent MOT test was on 22 January 2021 at 129,827 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

• It was last serviced in February 2021 at 129,047 miles by RD Motorworks. This comprised renewal of the engine oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, and fan motor, plus a full inspection.
• Other recent maintenance has included replacing one of the wheel bearings, new front suspension struts, and new brake discs and pads. The vendor understands that the previous owner also carried out a timing chain kit replacement.
• The original service book shows nine stamps up to 49,887 miles, and there is some paperwork covering various maintenance since then.

SUMMARY

This BMW 518i is a modern classic saloon, which remains in very good order for its age, having evidently been well maintained. Understood to be fitted with a factory M Tech body kit, and in more recent years subtly upgraded with a leather interior and new sound system, this is an appealing 1980s cruiser, which stands out from the crowd and is a pleasure to drive.
