1982 PORSCHE 911 3.0 SC

KEY FACTS

  • A lightweight take on the 911 3.0 SC, with a number of high-performance upgrades.
  • It is powered by an uprated 3.0-litre air-cooled flat-six, now producing around 250bhp, coupled to a five-speed manual transmission with a Windrush Evolutions 915 short-shift kit and a limited slip differential.
  • It was previously converted from a standard road car to a customer track day car by RPM Technik, though it was upgraded to a more extensive rally car specification in 2015, also benefiting from continuous servicing throughout its competitive life.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • Its air-cooled flat six has been lightened, balanced and fitted with an updated bottom end, along with 964 C2 camshafts and a competition exhaust.
  • The lightweight bodywork includes fibreglass bumpers, bonnet, roof, engine lid and ducktail spoiler, with plexiglass windows and a front strut brace.
  • The suspension includes an Elephant Racing adjustable quick-change torsion bar and anti-roll bar setup.
  • It is equipped with EBC Black Diamond brake discs, working alongside EBC Yellowstuff brake pads, though various alternatives will be supplied.
  • It currently rides on Group 4 Wheels Campagnolo alloys and Toyo Proxes R888 tyres, though its original Fuchs wheels are included, wrapped with Michelin rally tyres.
  • Inside, it is equipped with Recaro bucket seats with Schroth harnesses, a three-spoke Momo steering wheel, a Monit 100GPS trip computer, a plumbed-in fire extinguisher, shovel, glass cutter and a fuel can. There is also an external engine cut-off switch, spot lamps, a heated windscreen and heated washer jets.
  • The interior has been stripped, with all sound deadening, carpets and soft trim removed, while an FIA-compliant roll cage has been installed.
  • It will be accompanied by a large history folder, recording its conversion from road to track car, and then to its current rally-based specification.
  • Also included are its previous Motor Sports Association logbook, various Porsche Club articles and rally reports, and a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates and tax discs.
  • It also comes with a Porsche indoor soft car cover.

CONDITION

  • No known prior bodywork damage.
  • Its resprayed red paintwork is in good shape, presenting with just a few minor imperfections. Small stone chips can be seen around the front end and on the offside front wing, along with a minor scratch near the engine lid.
  • Inside, its black and grey Recaro bucket seats and Schroth harnesses are in good order, though the vendor notes they are currently out of date for FIA competition use.
  • Some light discolouration can be seen on the three-spoke Momo steering wheel.
  • No electrical faults have been detected.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 5 February 2021 at 114,730 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • Its most recent service was in April 2021, where the vendor changed the engine oil, spark plugs, HT leads, distributor and transmission oil, before fitting new Bilstein dampers, new brake callipers, EBC Black Diamond brake discs, EBC Yellowstuff brake pads and Motul brake fluid.

SUMMARY

This Porsche 911 3.0 SC is a rally-focused interpretation of the modern classic sports car, ideal for competitive road trials and historic race events. With very minimal work it would also be competitive in the growing classes for 1980s circuit racing, or simply as an entertaining track day car. Despite its competition equipment, it remains entirely road legal and is ready for immediate use.
