1976 PORSCHE 911 2.7

KEY FACTS

  • A freshly restored example of the iconic classic sports car, finished in a rare colour scheme.
  • Under the engine lid is the 2.7-litre air-cooled flat-six, which powers the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
  • The car has been treated to a bare-metal refurbishment, and its engine and gearbox have previously been rebuilt by marque specialist Hartech.
  • An original right-hand drive, UK-market example, this 911 was first registered in October 1976, and was acquired by the seller one year ago.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This 1976 911 2.7 is finished in the elegant and period-correct hue of Ice Green Metallic, complemented by black vinyl and Black Watch Tartan upholstery.
  • Equipment includes electric windows and an electric sunroof, with chrome window trims and headlight bezels.
  • It rides on the correct set of 15-inch ‘cookie cutter’ alloy wheels, which feature some minor kerb scuffs and blemishes on their surfaces, but have been intentionally left unrestored to preserve their original anodised finish.
  • The car has recently undergone a rolling restoration, with the bodywork being stripped back to bare metal, had any rust repaired first on the exterior with rust protection and undersealing inside. Then, it was refinished in its original paint colour of Ice Green Metallic.
  • During the restoration, the seller opted not to refit the side rocker covers / sill mouldings for a sleeker, more classic look.
  • At some stage, a later Blaupunkt Cambridge radio/cassette player was fitted in the cabin and wired to a pair of retrofitted Blaupunkt speakers, which are located behind the rear seats. The seller understands that this could have been a dealer fit or specialist option.
  • The car will be accompanied by a partial toolkit and a large file of papers, including documentation of its engine and gearbox rebuilds, invoices for its parts and maintenance, servicing over a vast period, past MOT test certificates dating back 26 years, plus bills for its recent restoration.

CONDITION

  • There is no evidence of any accident damage, and the bodywork has recently undergone a full bare-metal restoration, respray and undersealing treatment. The car has been wax oiled to add further future protection.
  • The freshly resprayed Ice Green Metallic paintwork is in superb, unmarked condition, with a smooth and glossy appearance around the exterior panels.
  • Any damaged rubber components or seals were replaced, and new stainless-steel fasteners were used to affix the bumpers and trim items.
  • Inside, the cabin presents very well indeed, and while the fabric on the back seats and door cards has faded slightly, this is in line with the car’s age.
  • The headlining has been replaced and the front seats have been re-trimmed in the correct Black Watch Tartan cloth, and are in great shape,
  • While the headlining has been replaced, the rest of the interior trims are thought to be original to the car, and have a charming appearance.
  • There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.
  • While it is exempt due to its age, the car’s last MOT test was conducted on 8 July 2021 at 153,980 miles, resulting in a clean, first-time pass.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • This 911 2.7’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in June 2021 at approximately 153,800 miles by NA Autos, who changed the engine oil and filter, as well as the gearbox oil and the fan belt (Porsche branded filter, Porsche classic oil and Porsche fan belt).
  • Prior to this, the car was maintained by its previous owner; while this is not fully documented the seller believes that services were carried out in 2020 and 2018.
  • As mentioned above, the seller has recently treated the car to a substantial, bare-metal exterior restoration, which included repair of the B-pillars, ‘kidney bowls’, door shuts and wings.
  • This also involved the replacement of a large number of parts, including the exhaust pre-silencer, rear bumper, rear overriders, the bonnet dampers and various seals and trim items. All can be seen in the included bills.
  • Previously, both the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by marque specialist Hartech, who also replaced the clutch and synchros, and tended to the braking system. Hartech maintained and serviced the car under their lifetime maintenance plan between 2000 and 2014.
