1973 PORSCHE 914 2.0

This Porsche 914 2.0 is a superbly presented classic sports car, benefiting from a recent restoration. It is equipped with a 2.0-litre fuel-injected flat-four engine, producing around 99bhp, coupled with five-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 41,532 miles, though this is inaccurate.

First registered in January 1973 in the US market, in more recent years it has been imported to the UK and re-registered with the DVLA in June 2017. With two previous keepers since then, this 914 has been in the hands of its current owner for two years. In 2017, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive restoration, including the fitment of new Weber carburettors, 914/6 replica arches and brand new Fuchs replica wheels.

The bodywork is in excellent shape, presenting with flush shut lines, smooth panels and a glowing Sun Yellow finish. There are some minor stone chips around the front end and wheel arches, but the paintwork was resprayed four years ago and now presents in excellent condition. The targa roof appears to fit very well, while a set of Rallye 1000 Hella lamps can be seen on the front end. The 15-inch Fuchs-style replica alloy wheels are immaculate and have the period-correct satin finish.

Inside, the seats have been re-trimmed with black and yellow chequered centre panels, with leather outer edges and bolsters. The condition of the upholstery has been described as superb, with only the slightest signs of use since the restoration. A Grant GT three-spoke steering wheel has been installed, while the original stereo remains present, and no electrical faults have been detected.

The last routine maintenance was undertaken in March 2020 at 41,311 miles, where technicians at Porsche specialist Strasse in Leeds changed all filters and spark plugs as part of a full service.

The most recent MOT test was on 25 June 2018 at an indicated 41,302 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. It is exempt from mandatory annual testing in the UK on the basis of age. The wheels are wrapped in brand-new Toyo Proxes tyres.

Accompanying the vehicle is a selection of American title and UK import documents, along with a Porsche Classic service record, and various images of the restoration process. A spare wheel and full toolkit will also be supplied.

Described as a car with real personality and character, this Porsche 914 2.0 is a superb example of the breed, which has benefited from a comprehensive restoration, some discerning upgrades, and now presents in excellent condition throughout. A fun B-road companion, this 914 would be a great addition to any collection of classic sports cars or Porsches in particular.
