KEY FACTS

• A solid, early example of the renowned classic sports car, presented in an attractive colour scheme and requiring only minor attention to be brought back to roadworthy condition.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• As the first examples of Porsche’s now iconic 911 left the factory in September 1964, this 1965 example is a particularly early-production ‘O-series’ example.
• It is presented in the handsome hue of Ruby Red over a black leatherette-trimmed interior, punctuated by wood trim on the dashboard and a matching wood-rimmed steering wheel.
• The car rides on the correct set of polished 15-inch wheels with chromed hubcaps.
• This example’s factory-fitted options include the very rare Webasto cabin heater, two leather headrests, tinted glass, and a Blaupunkt ‘Frankfurt’ radio with speaker and antenna.
• This 911 will be accompanied by its Porsche certificate of authenticity, a Porsche ‘Kardex’ data card showing the build of the car when new, and it’s original literature in the original pouch.

CONDITION

• The car presents as a sound example, and is believed to be highly original.
• The Ruby Red paintwork is in generally good condition, having been resprayed during the car’s past. It shows minor signs of wear such as stone chips and small markings, as it to be expected from a car of this age.
• Inside, this car retains its original upholstery, which is very rare to find on a Porsche of this age. There is some creasing and light wear on the black leatherette seats as you would expect, which are also sagging and could benefit from new seat bases.
• There are no known faults with the car, and no warning lights are showing on the dashboard.

SERVICE HISTORY

• Around six months ago, just prior to leaving the US, the car received a full service, fluid change and tune-up at European Porsche Auto Center in Miami. The seller reports that it ran strongly with no known issues before being exported to Germany.
• The vendor advises that the front cross member which is located in front of the fuel tank shows significant signs of rust and will need replacing, as will the heater hose.

SUMMARY

A particularly early ‘O-series’ example, this 1965 Porsche 911 represents the formative years of the now world-famous and incredibly long-lived model’s history. Presented in solid condition and with reportedly sound bodywork, this ‘numbers matching’ 911 will no doubt make a delightful addition to any collection once brought back to its former glory.
