  • This example is finished with glossy black paintwork accented by twin white pinstripes, and the seat has been retrimmed in black vinyl with matching white piping.

CONDITION

  • There is no known damage to the frame or bodywork.
  • Having been resprayed in the past, the black paintwork is in fair overall condition, and while there are various blemishes, chips and scratches around the bike, this only enhances its classic ‘patinated’ appearance.
  • The retrimmed seat is in great shape, with no rips, tears or other visible damage, while the controls and switchgear are lightly worn, in line with the bike’s age and use.
  • There are no known mechanical faults; however the green neutral indicator light does not illuminate.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • The vendor notes that this R69S’ fluids and battery will be changed before it is handed over to its next owner, and it has recently received an oil and air filter change.
  • The carburettors have also been replaced recently.

SUMMARY

This BMW R69S is a stylish and well-engineered classic sports bike, which won over racers and the general public in period with its impressive reliability and 110mph top speed. Presented in smart, unmodified condition and benefiting from a previous restoration, this honest example would make a fine weekend cruiser, and could easily be brought up to a very high standard with some light cosmetic ‘smartening up’.
