CC WC HK Launch (1)

Across the weekend of 21-22 October, there was another milestone moment for Collecting Cars and Watch Collecting, as we officially launched the two platforms to the local market in Hong Kong.

While numerous cars and watches have been sold from Hong Kong, and many bidders there have won auctions from elsewhere in the world, this weekend of events celebrated our physical local market presence with a dedicated team now on-hand for collectors.

The weekend began with an incredible gathering of supercars, classics, and other icons in the rooftop car park of the Ocean Terminal, Harbour City. With the location kept a secret from the invited guests until the night before, there was a fantastic buzz around the event. The remarkable cars in attendance included a RUF CTR Anniversary, Aston Martin V12 Speedster and V12 Vantage Zagato, Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari 812 GTS, and many more. There were also plenty of significantly more affordable classics from decades past, highlighting the rich variety of Hong Kong’s car culture.

This particular event was also a chance to showcase some of the highlights from ‘The HK Collection’ auction; a curated selection of exceptional vehicles offered for sale from a distinguished private collector.

Furthermore, in something of a contrast to many events in the UK, where watch enthusiasts are understandably now wary of wearing very valuable timepieces, the Hong Kong crowd was happy to show off some incredible wrist-worn gems too.

On Saturday afternoon, our team decamped to The Sky Lounge of The Upper House hotel, where a panel discussion was set up featuring Chris Harris, Alain Li (former CEO of Richemont in Asia and an avid collector of cars and watches), and the founder of The Collecting Group, Edward Lovett.

Chris spoke about his impressions of the vibrant Hong Kong car culture, reflecting on his view that only Los Angeles could match it for the variety, the volume and the ‘hidden gems’ that attend events. There was much discussion about the trends and nuances of collectible cars and watches around the world, and many of the guests in attendance were well-known enthusiasts, owners and influencers.

The celebratory weekend was rounded off with a special event on Sunday morning, where some incredible machinery was assembled for a drive from Hung Hom Harbour Grand Kowloon to the Gold Coast Hotel. The convoy was exceptional by any measure, including two Pagani Zondas, a brace of 911 GT2 RS, Lexus LFA, Aston Martin V12 Zagato, and a revered 997 GT3 RS 4.0. As if that wasn’t enough, greeting them at the hotel at the end of the mini tour was a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, Porsche 911 GT1 and a McLaren F1.

This special weekend programme showcased some of the best that Hong Kong’s car and watch culture has to offer, and highlighted the quality of consignments that The Collecting Group will be seeking in the market.

Beyond 'The HK Collection', there are other impressive classic, collectible and high-performance cars now live for bids in Hong Kong - so be sure to visit our homepage to see what else is on offer.
