At the end of January, Collecting Cars celebrated its market launch in New Zealand with the first ever of its Coffee Run events in the country. Held in at the Auckland Showgrounds on 29 January, this gathering aimed to bring together an incredible assembly of collector cars – from classics to supercars, modern performance heroes to track-ready lightweights, and much more.

In total, 850 cars attended this enthusiast event, with the highlights including a New Zealand-delivered 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, a stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, a monstrously powerful Ferrari 812 Competizione, and a striking Renault Clio V6 Phase 2 – the latter being a car that was previously won in a Collecting Cars online auction and shipped all the way from the UK to its new owner.

Another auction success story came in the form of the very low-mileage Porsche 993 Turbo sold in New Zealand at the end of 2023 – for an incredible price of NZ$480,888 – with the winning bidder flying over from Australia to collect the car and attend the Coffee Run in person.

As you would expect, there were plenty of enthusiast favourites to be found in the Auckland Showgrounds, including Lancia Delta Integrales, Honda Civic Type Rs, Nissan Skyline GT-Rs, hundreds of cars from BMW M and Mercedes-AMG, and countless Porsche 911s from almost every generation.

Chris Harris and our founder Edward Lovett were on hand to meet well-established members of the Collecting Cars community, as well as newcomers finding their feet on the platform for the first time. They were supported by a great turnout from the Collecting Cars team in Australia and New Zealand.

We were truly overwhelmed by the response from enthusiasts in New Zealand, and the team is now busy discussing and progressing a host of exciting consignments as a result of the Coffee Run event.
