The Track Edition Collection: Live For Bids Splash

A remarkable set of circuit-ready performance cars in pristine condition.

While Collecting Cars has offered two private collections in the past that focus either wholly or largely on one brand, The Track Edition Collection reflects not one specific badge but a particular theme of circuit-ready vehicles.

Offered from a single private collector in Australia, these seven vehicles are all outstanding examples of iconic driver’s cars. They represent the full spectrum of performance models; from a lightweight roadster to hot hatches, and from riotous ‘super sedans’ to finely honed track-focused coupes.

At the ‘entry level’, there is a subtly tuned 2010 Mazda MX-5 (NC2) Roadster, which features a full upgrade to the exhaust system - with ceramic-coated headers, a stainless mid-pipe and Super Q silencer - as well as fitment of Tein FLEX Z coilover suspension and SuperPro adjustable sway bars to enhance its handling on the road or track.

The hot hatches are covered by two Renaults. The first, a 2013 Renault Clio RS200 Cup, was dubbed "the 911 GT3 of hot hatches" when it was launched. Equipped with the stiffer chassis and desirable Recaro bucket seats, this particular car has been tuned to around 217hp, fitted with an Akrapovic sports exhaust, and now rides on lighter OZ Racing wheels.

The Track Edition Collection: Live For Bids Renault Megane RS275 Trophy-R

An exceptionally rare 2015 Renault Megane RS275 Trophy-R is also part of the collection, which has less than 18,000km on the clock and remains completely original and unmodified. At the time of launch, it was the fastest front-wheel drive production car in the world, lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:54.36. As one of only 50 in Australia, it will no doubt attract attention from discerning collectors and keen drivers alike.

The first of two coupes in the collection is the 2017 BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition; a stunning as-new example of the marque’s limited-run tribute to its success in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters series. While it is a track-ready machine with a half roll cage and bucket seats, the DTM Champion Edition also features air conditioning, satellite navigation, and adaptive LED headlights.

Surely no collection of driver’s cars would be complete without a Porsche 911, and the model on offer from The Track Edition Collection is a 991.2 GT3 Clubsport. It is finished in the timeless combination of GT Silver over a black leather and Alcantara interior, and was specified with composite ceramic brake discs, full carbon-fibre bucket seats, and the Porsche Dynamic Light System. An acclaimed analogue sports car, this example is as-new throughout with just 397km on the odometer.

The Track Edition Collection: Live For Bids Porsche 911 GT3

Flying the flag for Australia are two very rare and special cars from Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). Both are Gen-F cars based on the VF Commodore; the first being a 1-of-150 Clubsport R8 Track Edition, equipped with 340kW/462PS naturally aspirated V8, re-engineered HSV suspension, a ‘Hyperflow’ rear spoiler, and a limited-slip differential. Representing the last of the LS3 R8s built, the Track Edition is as collectible as it is entertaining.

Rounding off The Track Edition Collection is a HSV GTSR W1: one of the most coveted ‘super sedans’ ever built, and a fitting farewell to Holden’s Australian production. Power comes from a supercharged 474kW/636bhp 6.2-litre LS9 alloy V8, coupled to a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission, while braking is by six-piston AP Racing monoblock calipers with vast 410mm front discs. With SupaShock suspension, it has both sensational outright pace and impressive handling, and remains in immaculate condition with just 1,425km from new.

These ‘magnificent seven’ performance cars represent a fantastic variety of driver-focused machines; each of them highlighting the focus of this collection on machines that deliver a more connected mechanical feeling from behind the wheel.

They were all carefully specified or selected by the current owner, and have been kept in excellent condition with no expense spared. While they have never been used on the track, they are ready to enjoy as intended, and will thrill their next owners, wherever they choose to drive them.

Our team is proud to be offering another exceptional collection of vehicles on the platform, especially one that has evidently been so well-cared for.
