Collecting Cars 2020 October Highlights Ferrari 458 Speciale

Following a record month in September, Collecting Cars, the UK’s leading online auction platform for iconic, sporting and collectable cars, has enjoyed a packed October including another record-setting sale.

1,000 vehicles sold on Collecting Cars

This month saw the 1,000th vehicle sold on Collecting Cars; an impressive milestone for a platform that is not yet 18 months old. As awareness and demand grow, we have seen a huge variety of cars sold this month, from a charming 1971 NSU Prinz, which sold for a very accessible £4,339, through to the stunning Ferrari 488 Pista that cleared £267,500 – and which was paid for and collected within 24 hours of the sale ending. Other notable cars this month have included 1 of only 150 BMW M3 GTS ever made (sold for £135,000) and a stunning 1995 Ford Escort Cosworth Lux which achieved £45,000. Sales for October totalled more than £5 million for the second consecutive month, with 100% of the hammer price in each sale being received by the vendor.

World record price for hardcore Clio

Arguably the highlight of October’s sales, and underlining the fact that Collecting Cars offers a superb option to sell collectable cars of the highest quality, happened late in the month when the platform set a new world record price for a Renaultsport Clio V6. The 2002 Phase 1 car appeared on the site with just over 2,000 miles on the clock, and previously featured in Classic and Sports Car magazine. It achieved a remarkable sales price of £62,540 (including buyer’s premium).

James Little joins the team

Collecting Cars not only enjoyed growth in sales this month, the team also continues to expand. A notable recruit for October was new YouTube presenter, James Little. Little entered an online, Instagram-based competition to become the new fulltime host of the Collecting Cars YouTube channel. Announced by TV presenter Chris Harris, the competition attracted hundreds of entries from prospective presenters. Little dived straight into his new role by heading off to review one of the UK’s largest road-legal 4x4s: the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4 Squared. Coming soon – Carrera GT

November promises to be another incredible month as Collecting Cars continues to grow, featuring eye-catching consignments such as a Porsche Carrera GT, a 1964 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2, and an astonishing one-owner E36-era BMW M3 saloon with just 34,500 miles from new.
