Introducing WatchCollecting.com

WatchCollecting.com is set to change the world of luxury watch auctions when we launch in March. Now accepting consignments for our first auctions.

Introducing WatchCollecting.com

For too long, sellers have been charged exorbitant commissions when auctioning their watches, and buyers have been paying excessive premiums. It’s time for change. Following the disruptive success of ‘Collecting Cars’, achieving sales totalling over £48 million in its first 18 months, founder Edward Lovett will bring the same 100% online timed auctions to delight passionate collectors of timepieces with ‘WatchCollecting.com’.

With a team of passionate and knowledgeable watch enthusiasts headed up by industry veteran Adrian Hailwood, WatchCollecting.com may be an online platform, but its staff are approachable, professional, and aim to deliver the easiest way to buy and sell watches.

Using the same bespoke platform developed for Collecting Cars, built by the in-house development team led by David Edmonston, the new online auctions will also benefit from its efficient CRM system, which has significantly shortened the time between initial enquiry and successful sale, while retaining direct personal contact with the consignment specialists.

Partnering with industry-leading identity verification technology, the Art Loss Register for due diligence, and processing payments through escrow, WatchCollecting.com is creating a secure, accountable space for watches to be bought and sold with complete transparency.

Total commission for buyers and sellers at a traditional auction house can easily reach 40% of the hammer price including VAT. Watch Collecting will charge only 5% plus VAT- with a minimum charge of £600. A £10,000 sale in a traditional auction might return £6,800 to the seller, at Watch Collecting it would return £9,400.

With the first auctions scheduled for March 2021, Watch Collecting will offer an unparalleled service for collectors looking to sell in less time and for more money.

Edward Lovett says, “Having shaken up the car auction industry, we are looking to bring the same level of disruption to the world of collectible watches. The latest identity verification technology allows us to create a trusted online community for buying and selling watches at a fraction of the commissions charged by the traditional auctioneers.”
