RESERVE LOWERED: BORRANI WHEELS FOR FERRARI 250 GTO

This is a pair of original Borrani wire wheels, understood to be a bespoke competition specification option for the Ferrari 250 GTO. While the standard fitment for the Series II GTOs was the RW 3808 rear wheel with a 7.5-inch width, this RW 3808/1 designated wheel has a 9-inch width, and is believed to have been for racing purposes only.

The wheels are built with alloy rims and have 42mm hubs. They are marked with ‘RUOTE BORRANI - MILANO’ and ‘15 X 9 / RECORD RW 3808/1’ around the rims, denoting a 15-inch diameter and 9-inch width. These wheels were previously in the Maranello Rosso Collection of the late Fabrizio Violati, the former owner of 250 GTO chassis 3851GT.

As can be seen in the photos, these wheels are in very good condition, with only minor nicks and grazes around the rims. The wires themselves also appear to be in great shape, with no visible corrosion or damage.

For those lucky enough to own a rare 250-series Ferrari that it used on track - as it is understood the hub size is also a match for a 250 GT SWB as well - these wide racing wheels could be put to very good use. Of course, even as a curio, this pair of GTO rims would be a striking addition to any collection.
