STEALTH B6 RACE CAR

KEY FACTS

  • A superb example of a rare Chevrolet-engined lightweight race car, which has been built to a very high standard and remains in nearly new condition having never raced.
  • Power comes courtesy of a small block Chevrolet V8 engine of approximately 6.0-litre displacement, with a Dart iron block and alloy heads.
  • It is believed to produce around 600bhp, which drives the rear wheels through a magnesium-case Hewland NLT six-speed sequential gearbox.
  • Fastidiously constructed by a retired engineer owner over the course of eight years using the last new factory chassis, it has only been used for two successful testing days since.
  • The vendor notes that the car is eligible for several race series, including the Dutch Supercar challenge and the Britcar Endurance Championship, but could also be used as a well-prepared track day car, being able to keep noise output within 98db.
  • At least one other example of the Stealth B6 has been made road-legal, so this is also an option for its next owner.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This B6 features a very high specification, which includes Brembo eight-piston brake callipers at the front and AP Racing four-piston callipers to the rear, fully adjustable WP dampers, and a new Quartermaster sintered clutch and starter motor.
  • Its Chevrolet V8 engine was previously the spare engine for a front-running British GT team.
  • The Hewland NLT transmission was supplied and serviced by marque specialist PDS Racing, at a cost of nearly £25,000 when new. It has had no more than three hours of running time.
  • The custom-made exhaust system incorporates ex Honda Formula 1 collector boxes housing six silencers, which keep the decibel output of the car below 98db in order to meet UK track noise regulations.
  • Inside, the carbon-fibre dashboard houses a fully programmable Motec data display unit and various toggle switches to control the ignition, wipers and lights. A master kill switch is located by the driver’s door, recessed into the bodywork.
  • The car also features a competition-specification 100-litre fuel bag (which will require servicing to meet racing regulations), a four-litre extinguisher system, lightweight Odyssey battery, and an air jack system.
  • It is also fitted with a six-point Willans racing harness, which is still within date.
  • It will be supplied with a complete set of drawings, receipts and invoices from the build – detailing over £50,000 worth of expenditure.
  • The car will also be accompanied by a spare set of wheels and tyres, numerous sets of spare brake pads, three replacement windscreens, various suspension components, and a socket and torque bar for the centre wheel nuts.

CONDITION

  • There is no damage on the bodywork; it remains as-new following the eight-year build process.
  • The metallic blue paintwork is in excellent condition, with only two or three very tiny scuffs in line with the car’s limited testing use only.
  • The vendor notes that there is a small crack in the windscreen, but this does not impede visibility.
  • The interior also presents very well, with some very minor piling to the Alcantara-trimmed Momo steering wheel, and light superficial marks on the seat base and chassis frame rail, caused when the driver has entered and exited the car.
  • There are no known mechanical issues. While the seller reports that the Motec dashboard does not currently display the selected gear, it simply needs to be programmed.

SUMMARY

This Stealth B6 race car represents the rare opportunity to acquire a truly analogue and highly engaging hand-built competition car. With a powerful engine believed to produce around 600bhp, and boasting a very high standard of construction by a retired engineer, this rare B6 would make an eye-catching and thrilling choice for any budding racer or track day enthusiast, and is sure to stand out both in the paddock and on the grid.
