LITTLE LEGENDS SPYDER

This Little Legends Spyder is a superb children’s car, which pays homage to the Ferrari 250 GT California, and is presented in the timeless red over tan colour scheme. It is driven by a 110cc air-cooled four-stroke petrol engine, producing around 7bhp, and coupled to a three-speed semi-automatic transmission with sequential shift. While it can reach a top speed of around 29mph, a speed limiter can also be fitted to suit younger drivers.

This Spyder’s painted and powder-coated jig-built steel box section chassis is covered by a composite GRP body and floor pan, while the driveline includes aluminium front hubs, steel rear drive shafts and rear hubs, as well as aluminium and tensile steel front axles. The car has independent suspension on all four corners, with double wishbones at the front and a single at the rear, plus adjustable gas shock absorbers. Braking is by vented discs and dual-piston Brembo callipers, and there is centre-mounted rack-and-pinion steering.

The red DuPont paintwork presents well, retaining a deep hue all over, while the wheels and hubcaps are also in excellent condition. There are working headlights and indicators, and the car is also equipped with a horn. The vendor indicates that the bonnet latch is currently broken, though it does not affect the usability of the car, and should be easy to fix in the future.

Inside, the GRP seat is trimmed with tan leather, which presents in superb condition, with no noticeable wear. The dashboard has dummy gauges and two sets of switches, while there are also adjustable pedals, and release handles for the bonnet and boot.

This Little Legends Spyder is a charming half-scale vehicle, which looks every inch the miniature style icon. A fitting tribute to the 250 GT California Spyder; it would make a fun addition to any Ferrari collection, but is of course best enjoyed by junior enthusiasts, as a terrific introduction to petrol-powered motoring and car controls.
