JAGUAR XK120 PEDAL CAR - BESPOKE SPECIFICATION

This lot is a charming ‘half scale’ Jaguar XK120 Roadster pedal car, which is waiting to be finished with the paintwork and trim of the winning bidder’s choosing. The car can be completed in any combination of six paint hues and three leather colours. Only a handful of these pedal cars are built each year, so this is a great opportunity to acquire a brand-new example with a bespoke specification.

The car pictured in the accompanying photos is identical to the Roadster on offer, but is seen here as a finished build, specified in Old English White with Burgundy leather. The Roadster offered in the auction is currently in primer, ready to be painted in one of six colours: Bright Red, Baby Blue, Old English White, Silver, Black, or British Racing Green.

At around 1.8 metres in length, the car is scaled to around 40% of the real roadster. Its chassis is powder-coated steel, while the bodywork is formed in composite glass-reinforced plastic. There are recognisable XK120 design cues around the car, including the slim bumpers and grille, rear overriders, and even the rear wheel cover ‘spats’. White circles with racing numbers can also be added, if desired, along with a customised registration plate.

Inside, the seat will be trimmed in hand-stitched leather, with three hide colours for the winning bidder to choose from: Tan, Black, or Burgundy. There is an elegant metal-framed windscreen, just like the real XK120, and a four-spoke steering wheel.

This child-sized Jaguar XK120 Roadster is an elegant hand-built pedal car, and a fitting tribute to the real sports car it is based upon. It would be a fun addition to any Jaguar collection in its own right, but of course is intended to be a charming ‘first classic’ for a junior car enthusiast.
