FERRARI 330 P2 MORTARINI JUNIOR CAR

The Ferrari 330 P2, and its 1965 sibling the 275 P2, were the successors to the legendary 250 LM. With lower and lighter chassis and more aerodynamic bodywork, they proved competitive. Mechanical issues meant the 330 P2 was unable to achieve success in its debut outing at the 1965 Daytona 2000, but it later took the outright win at that year’s Nurburgring 1000 km, in the hands of John Surtees and Ludovico Scarfiotti.



This lot is a wonderful 330 P2 ‘Junior’ created by François Mortarini, with the support and authorisation of Ferrari’s SEFAC racing department. It features a carefully sculptured fibreglass body over a tubular steel chassis, and has some superb attention to detail. The car is understood to be powered by a 50cc two-stroke Gerosa motorcycle engine, coupled to a four-speed transmission.

These cars are understood to have been used by some owners for children’s race events that took place over the Le Mans weekends in the late 1960s. Today, fun events such as ‘Little Big Mans’ - for which this car is eligible - recreate these characterful junior competitions.

A fantastic acquisition for any young racing enthusiast, this Ferrari 330 P2 by Mortarini is a fun children’s toy that is also an eligible racing car for various lighthearted ‘junior’ events. While it would be most enjoyable for a child with a love for cars, this would also be a great addition to any collection of Ferrari cars or automobilia.
