An unmissable opportunity to get behind the wheel of an exceptionally rare and coveted classic; the winning bidder of this lot will have the chance to drive a genuine Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta as part of the 2021 Hope Classic Rally.

The Hope Classic Rally, now in its sixth year, is a unique fundraising event created by a group of classic car enthusiasts who wanted to put their passion to good use. To date, they have raised more than £1.3m to support the work of WeSeeHope, a charity that creates sustainable change for vulnerable children in Southern and Eastern Africa through community-led education, child rights and economic empowerment programmes.

Hosted exclusively on Collecting Cars, every penny of the money raised from the seven auction items will go directly to WeSeeHope.

To celebrate this year’s event, the Hope Classic Rally has partnered with Collecting Cars to offer a set of incredible ride and drive experiences; giving bidders the chance not only to take part in the convoy and the festivities, but to get behind the wheel of an exceptional motor car.

This Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta is one of seven cars whose generous owners have agreed to donate a driving experience to the charitable effort. This particular car is one of just 14 right-hand drive cars built; originally owned by Lord Portman, and later by renowned Ferrari collectors Yoshiho Matsuda and Yoshijuki Hayashi in Japan.

Comfortably one of the world’s most sought-after collector cars, the 250 GT SWB is beloved by car enthusiasts of all ages. Powered by a glorious 3.0-litre ‘Colombo’ V12, the Berlinetta found fame on race circuits around the globe, winning the 1961 GT class Constructors’ Championship and notching up wins on legendary races such as the Tour de France.

For 2021, the rally will take place on Saturday 11 September, covering more than 100 miles of winding country roads across the spectacular Surrey Hills. Breakfast will be hosted at the Oatlands Park Hotel, before heading off on a specially planned route to the garden party lunch stop at Wiston House, home of the Goring family. There will be entertainment and special guests, all set in the surroundings of some remarkable classic cars.

Following the breakfast meet, each winner will receive a briefing on the car and its controls from an experienced classic or sports car driver. All seven cars will then set off shortly after 10.30am, making their way onwards to Wiston House.

Winners will be partnered with a chaperone for the duration of the drive who will be on hand to support them with information about the car while they are behind the wheel. Eligible drivers will have the experience of a passenger ride as well as taking the wheel of the car in question as they make their way through the Surrey Hills to the meeting point. 

PLEASE NOTE: for the purposes of these experiences, eligible drivers MUST be aged over 30 years, have a clean driving licence, and have proof of no accidents within the last five years. Drivers must also be available on the 11^th September. No other date can be offered at this time.

We reserve the right to cancel the event due to weather or other circumstances beyond the control of the Event organisers. In this situation we will endeavour to reschedule at a mutually convenient time.

WINNING BIDDERS: due to the need to check personal details and process the necessary insurance, the winning bidder must make contact with the Hope Classic Rally within 12 hours of the auction ending. Failure to do so may delay the required paperwork and could prevent your participation. To enable the safe handling of the vehicle, all winners will be asked to participate as a passenger at the start of the day so that they can get an understanding of the car prior to getting into the driving seat.
