BORRANI WHEELS FOR FERRARI 365 GTB/4 DAYTONA

This is a full set of four original Borrani wire wheels, which are particularly well suited to the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ Berlinetta or the 365 GT 2+2. Borrani’s own website indicates that they could also be fitted to the later 365 GT4 2+2, 400 GT, and even the early Berlinetta Boxer models.

The wheels are built with alloy rims and have 42mm hubs. They are marked with ‘RUOTE BORRANI - MILANO’ and ‘15 X 7 1/2 L - RECORD RW 4075’ around the rims, and are accordingly of a 15-inch diameter and 7.5-inch width.

There are further stampings around the inner flanges, which all start with ‘10/89’. When Borrani itself rebuilds a set of wheels, it is understood that the company stamps the rims with the date of assembly, and also a serial number to show that they have been refurbished. In this case, it appears that this set was rebuilt in October 1989, and the four serial numbers of N1068, N1069, N1070, and N1072, show that they were completed almost consecutively.

Just over 30 years later, it is no surprise that these Borrani wire wheels are now in need of another rebuild. They remain an original set, but need a wire wheel specialist to bring them back to an excellent standard, as well as a full re-chroming treatment.

Once rejuvenated, these Borrani wires would make a useful replacement set for a current owner who wants to keep their existing wheels pristine, or would make stylish alternatives for a car currently fitted with alloys.
