2020 MERCEDES-AMG GT R PRO

This Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro is a thrilling track-focused road car, which has been driven and enjoyed, but still presents in superb condition. Under the long bonnet is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, producing around 577bhp and 516lb-ft of torque, and driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift. Its claimed 0-62mph time is just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 198mph.

Compared to the standard GT R, the Pro added manual adjustable coil-over shock absorbers on all four corners, with settings for pre-load, rebound and compression. The suspension was also beefed up by a carbon-fibre adjustable front anti-roll bar and a steel item at the rear, the ball joints from the GT R’s lower rear wishbones are also used on the upper rear items on the Pro. The dynamic engine and gearbox mounts have also been recalibrated, and there is a carbon-fibre brace panel for the underbody.

Ceramic brake discs are standard equipment, as is the Track Pack, featuring a roll cage and four-point safety harnesses. The Pro also features a raft of carbon-fibre components, including the ‘double bubble’ roof, front splitter, the front bumper canards, rear diffuser, and the vertical blades behind the rear wheels. The substantial rear wing is mounted on milled alloy stanchions, and features an extra Gurney flap, while there are also louvred panels on the front wings to extract air from the wheel arches.

First registered on 14 March 2020, the current owner, who is the second registered keeper, acquired the car around 10 months ago. The odometer now shows around 4,000 miles. It remains entirely standard, save for a ‘fast road’ geometry setup by SB Race Engineering.

The bodywork remains in great shape, with no damage. Its original silver paintwork was given a paint protection film (PPF) application by Yiannimize when new, and this has since been enhanced by a full satin black vinyl wrap on top of the film. The finish is in excellent condition throughout, and of course any small marks or chips in the black film have now affected the original paint. All of the carbon-fibre body trims present well, and the car rides on 19-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels, which are in superb order.

Inside, the bucket seats are trimmed in a combination of black leather for the bolsters and headrest section, and black Alcantara for the centre panels. The seats have minimal signs of use, commensurate with the low mileage. Its steering wheel is also fully trimmed in Alcantara, while other interior accents are in carbon-fibre and gloss black. Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and the COMAND infotainment system; making this an eminently usable car for longer-distance road trips.

The GT R Pro’s first service is due on 1 March 2021, which the vendor will have carried out by a Mercedes-Benz main dealer prior to handover to the next owner. It is of course not due for an initial MOT test until March 2023. The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres on all four corners.

This Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro makes for a superbly entertaining track toy, or a truly riotous road car. Offered for sale directly from its second owner, the car is in excellent condition throughout, and benefits from some bespoke tweaks to its geometry setup by a noted supercar specialist. Combining its raw performance with the typical refinement and sophistication of a modern Mercedes cabin, this GT R Pro has an impressive breadth and depth of talent, and is sure to delight its next owner.
