2019 ARIEL NOMAD

*Please note: while this Nomad is UK registered, it is currently located in Barcelona, Spain, for collection.*

This Ariel Nomad is a thrilling ‘go-anywhere’ on-road and off-road toy, which has low mileage and is offered by its first and only owner. Its engine is a 235bhp 2.4-litre naturally aspirated Honda i-VTEC inline-four, which drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing this all-terrain athlete to sprint from 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds. The odometer displays 5,721 miles from new. This Nomad remains UK registered, but is currently located in Barcelona, Spain.

First registered in July 2019, this Nomad is currently presented in a left-hand drive configuration, but thanks to its ambidextrous chassis, it can be converted to right-hand drive in around eight hours. It was also specified with all of the enhanced elements – uprated clutch, radiator, and oil cooler – to enable a future supercharger bolt-on at the factory should the next owner desire, raising the power output to around 300hp.

Other optional equipment includes a black exhaust guard, four-pot Alcon front brake callipers, a brake bias adjuster in the cockpit, the upgraded adjustable Bilstein suspension dampers, hydraulic handbrake, Perspex side panels, a full windscreen, daytime running lights/driving lights mounted above the cabin, a spare wheel and tubular steel recovery bars at the front and rear. First registered on 1 July 2019, this is an original UK market car that remains on British number plates, though it is currently located in Barcelona.

Though the Ariel Nomad has little in the way of bodywork, its black powder-coated steel chassis remains in great shape, with no signs of accident damage or noticeable marks. Fashioned from black rotationally moulded polyethylene, the robust front, back and side panels are in very good order, and the mud guards also present well, with only a few minor blemishes on the driver’s side rear wheel arch. Above, the optional lights provide additional illumination during late-night excursions, and are free of any damage, and the car is also equipped with a spare wheel and carrier, which is mounted above the rear engine cover. This Nomad rides on a set of 15-inch multispoke road wheels, which are in excellent condition, with no scratches, scuffs or other damage to their glossy black painted surfaces. The current tyres show little wear but nonetheless there is also a brand new set included, awaiting collection at any time from the Ariel factory.

In the cabin, this thrilling performance car is as minimalist as it can be, allowing the driver and passenger to focus their full attention on the driving experience, while also making the interior incredibly easy to clean down after a day of off-roading. Both of the supportive composite bucket seats are in excellent condition, and are free of any wear or damage, with their black four-point harnesses being equally well cared for. Ahead, the black Alcantara-wrapped removable steering wheel is in good order, though its rim has slight wear, and the digital instrument panel is unmarked. All of the car’s buttons, switches and electrical items work as they should, and there are no warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Its most recent routine maintenance was carried out in September 2020 at approximately 4,500 miles by Atelier Gouvy SL – a Caterham specialist which is recognised by Ariel. This consisted of an engine oil and gear oil change, as well as replacement of the oil, petrol and air filters, while a number of bolts were also tightened around the car, in line with Ariel’s recommendations.

Given its recent registration date, the vehicle has not yet required a roadworthiness test, and all four of its Yokohama Geolander A/T tyres are 18 months old and in superb condition.

The car will be accompanied by all of its original handbooks and paperwork, plus an all-weather driving cover and doors, a sun/shower cover and half doors. There is also a Thatcham-approved tracker mounted in the car. The appropriate registration ‘AR14 NOM’ is also included.

This Ariel Nomad is an outrageously entertaining all-terrain performance hero, which will take tarmac, gravel and mud in its stride while thrilling its driver and passenger at every turn and crest. Benefitting from a recent service, this well-specified example can be converted back to right-hand drive relatively easily, or could remain as-is, meaning it will no doubt appeal to bidders in the UK and mainland Europe alike. This is unquestionably one of the most esoteric and exhilarating performance cars of recent memory, and is ready to enjoy.

Please note: while this Nomad remains UK registered, it is currently located in Barcelona, Spain, for collection.
