2018 FERRARI 488 GTB

This Ferrari 488 GTB is a sublime contemporary supercar, presented in outstanding condition, and offered by the first and only owner from new. Its engine is the 661bhp 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8, coupled to the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shift. The odometer currently shows just 1,906 miles from new.

The car was specified by the owner in the timeless colour scheme, pairing Rosso Corsa paintwork with a smart cream leather interior. There is red stitching throughout, as well as Bordeaux carpets. He also chose the carbon-fibre steering wheel with LED shift lights, as well as the upgraded sport exhaust system. The exterior is embellished with the optional Scuderia wing shields, matt grey sill covers, and matt grey five-spoke alloy wheels. Its carbon-ceramic brake discs are accented by yellow calipers.

The combination of Rosso Corsa with the dark matt-finish body elements is a classic Ferrari graphic, and harks all the way back to the likes of the 308 GTB with its satin black bumper trims and window surrounds, not to mention the black lower sections of the early 348 models and the Testarossa.

Delivered and registered in May 2018, this is a one-owner car with full Ferrari main dealer service history. The seller is unashamedly a restless enthusiast, who likes to experience a range of performance cars, so is selling the Ferrari to move on to his next exciting purchase. He has kept the car in absolutely pristine condition, getting behind the wheel only with the seat covers in place, and with driving gloves on.

There is no damage whatsoever to any of the bodywork, and the paint is in beautiful condition. It has never been driven in the rain, and has had XPEL paint protection film (PPF) applied to the bumper, bonnet, front wings, door mirrors, and sills. The front registration plate is also attached by means of a bespoke Carbonio clamp system, which means the bumper has not been drilled. The underside of the car is also superb, with no scrapes or scuffs. There are photos in the gallery demonstrating this, taken during the April 2020 service. When not being driven, it has been kept in a dehumidified garage.

Inside, the cream leather is in equally impressive condition, showing only signs of very light use commensurate with the low mileage. There is no wear on the bolsters. Seat covers have always remained in place when driven, and the steering wheel and switchgear are free of surface marks, with the interior trims being touched only by gloved hands. In the seller’s own words, he is “off the scale when it comes to care and attention regarding this car”. As a result, the cabin is genuinely as good as it looks.

Factory-fitted equipment includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control, power folding mirrors, and automatic headlights. It is also fitted with satellite navigation, a media hard drive, Bluetooth connectivity, and driving mode settings via the steering wheel ‘Manettino’ dial. The original floor mats were taken out of the car upon delivery to be stored safely and preserved. The seller added a second pair of tailored carpet mats in dark red with cream piping, and with the ‘488 GTB’ logo.

It is still fresh from its last scheduled maintenance, which was carried out in April 2020 at 1,607 miles, by Meridien Modena in Lyndhurst. This consisted of an annual service to Ferrari specifications, including renewal of the pollen filter and brake fluid. Prior to this, it was seen in May 2019 at 1,071 miles by Graypaul Birmingham. The wheels are shod in the factory-fitted Pirelli P Zero tyres in size 245/35 ZR20 at the front and 305/30 ZR20 at the rear. They are still in excellent condition, with 6-7mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car are all of the original books and user guides, as well service history paperwork, the tool kit, trickle charger, and the Ferrari car cover. It is still under the original Ferrari factory warranty until 2022, and is covered by the generous seven-year servicing package until 2025.

This Ferrari 488 GTB is a sensational driver’s car, and a hugely exciting ownership prospect. At its launch, Top Gear magazine said the 488 was “a triumph of sports car engineering”, while Autocar declared it “undoubtedly today’s greatest supercar”. This particular example has been cherished by one fastidious owner from new, and is in pristine condition.
