2018 BROUGH SUPERIOR SS100 MK1

This 2018 Brough Superior SS100 MK1 is an exquisite hand-crafted motorcycle, which is presented in excellent condition and with little more than delivery mileage from new. It is powered by a 997cc 88-degree V-twin, which produces 102bhp and is coupled to a six-speed transmission. The odometer displays a mere 74 miles.

Created as a tribute to the original SS100 – which was first introduced in 1924 and remained in production until 1939 – this modern interpretation is the brainchild of British entrepreneur Mark Upham and his business partner Thierry Henriette, who revived the brand in 2004.

Retaining much of the classic bike’s charm and styling cues, the updated SS100 was first unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan in 2013, with production beginning in 2016. Manufactured by Henriette’s Boxer Design in Toulouse, France, each example is lovingly hand-crafted, and features a titanium frame and subframe, an aluminium fork and swing arm, and nickel-plated and enamelled details.

First registered in February 2018, this SS100 was previously a demonstrator for dealer Moto Corsa. Having been acquired by the seller just over two years ago, it has been kept in a heated and humidity-controlled garage and has only covered a handful of miles since. Just 300 such bikes were built, and this is number 56 of the production run.

As is to be expected, given the bike’s exceptionally low mileage, its hand-crafted titanium frame and nickel-plated fuel tank are in excellent condition, though the owner notes there is one slight scratch to the paintwork of the tank. The distinctive tank straps are pristine, and the highly polished exterior trim and exhaust pipes are in superb order. The highly polished wheels are unmarked. The powerful four-disc (stainless steel), 8-piston front brakes are a cue to the double horseshoe brakes of the earlier era. The fluted seat, trimmed in soft black leather with contrasting stitching, is free of any creasing or other signs of wear, and the rubber handlebar grips are as new. All of the switchgear naturally works as it should.

This SS100’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in April 2021 at 74 miles by J&L Motorcycles, who changed the engine oil and filter. Prior to this, oil services were performed in November 2019 and December 2018 by J&L Motorcycles and Moto Corsa, respectively.

The bike’s first MOT test was conducted on 8 April 2021 at 74 miles, which resulted in a clean, first-time pass. It will be accompanied by its original service book and owner’s manual.

This 2018 Brough Superior SS100 is an incredible update on the iconic 1920s motorcycle, which combines a superb instinctive ride and classic styling with cutting-edge materials and manufacturing processes.
