2018 ABARTH 695 BIPOSTO - 36 MILES FROM NEW

This Abarth 695 Biposto Record edition is a delivery-mileage example of the rare and uncompromising limited-run hot hatch, with one owner from new and only 36 miles on the odometer.

Under the bonnet is the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission, driving the front wheels via a mechanical limited slip differential. This results in a featherweight 997kg pocket rocket that can complete a sprint of 0–62mph in just 5.9 seconds.

A limited-production, special edition of Abarth’s self-proclaimed ‘smallest supercar’, the 695 Biposto Record was created to celebrate Karl (later Carlo) Abarth setting the acceleration record at Monza in October 1965, behind the wheel of his Fiat Abarth 105 HP Class G racer.

Setting it apart from the ‘standard’ Abarth 695 Biposto are its signature Modena Yellow paintwork, textured black mirror caps, badge panel and exterior door handles. It also features O.Z. Racing alloy wheels, remote-reservoir EXT Racing suspension dampers and an Akrapovic exhaust system, plus a unique interior and numerous other small touches.

Just 133 Record editions were built and only 39 came to the UK, with this particular car being badged as that final number 39.

Kept in storage from new, the car is now being offered for sale by its first owner, having only been started and moved to keep it in good running order.

In keeping with the car’s double-digit mileage and careful storage, its bodywork is in excellent condition and there are no signs of damage to the gloss carbon fibre lower grille surround or rear diffuser.

The bright Modena Yellow paintwork presents very well and is a testament to the care that has been taken when storing the car. All of the car’s original 695 Record badges are present and correct, and the Akrapovic exhaust’s tips are clean and free of dirt and carbon build-up.

It rides on its original lightweight matte grey 18-inch O.Z. Racing Ultraleggera 12-spoke alloy wheels, which are in great shape, with no apparent scratches or damage of any kind. The car’s vibrant red Brembo brake callipers also retain their smooth and glossy appearance.

Turning to the interior, the Abarth 695 Record Edition’s key focus is lightweight functionality. Taking centre stage are a pair of Sabelt manually adjustable carbon fibre bucket seats, upholstered in a mixture of black leather and black fabric with red stitching, while their centres are clad in black Alcantara.

In place of the rear seats usually found in more sedate Fiat 500-based cars, the 695 Biposto features a cargo net, hung over a titanium rear-bracing framework. The car’s floors are similarly functional with aluminium treadplates replacing the usual floor mats, and the inner door cards are now flat panels, with their sculpted door-pulls replaced with motorsport-inspired red fabric straps.

In the interest of further weight savings, this stripped-out performance special edition does away with the air-conditioning system and radio, leaving the driver to focus on the raucous exhaust note issuing from its Akrapovic twin tailpipes. There are believed to be no faults with the buttons, switches and electrical items.

Mechanically, this 695 Biposto is in excellent condition. Stored as part of a collection from new, it has been regularly started and moved to maintain good running order, but it has not yet been serviced, owing to its incredibly low mileage. Similarly, as the car was built in 2018, it has not yet been required to undergo an annual MOT test, with its first being due on 28 September 2021.

The wheels are still fitted with their original 215/35 R18 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, which have barely seen any use and remain in as-new condition.

Accompanying this Abarth are all of its original accessories and documents from new, including a black leather Abarth document wallet, full set of owner’s manuals, original Abarth certificate of authenticity, full tool kit and an unused Abarth emergency kit. The seller is also including a letter provided by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, confirming that this car was one of the last Record Editions to be registered in the UK

This Abarth 695 Biposto Record Edition represents the pinnacle of the marque’s modern hot hatches. Its limited slip differential and riotous Akrapovic exhaust system give it the handling and soundtrack expected of a performance Abarth, while its rarity makes it a sought-after collector’s car.

One of just 39 Record Editions to be registered in the UK, it is presented with delivery mileage, and represents a great opportunity to buy an as-new example of a now discontinued special-edition Abarth.

All cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.
