2017 VW POLO GTI

This VW Polo GTI is a superb example of the marque's 'pocket rocket', with very low mileage and a smart factory specification. It is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged inline-four producing 189bhp, driven through the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 7,500 miles from new.

Delivered new to Japan, this Polo GTI is believed to have been first registered in February 2017. It was imported to the UK in 2019, and was subsequently acquired by the seller and re-registered here. He has owned the car for around one year, and has covered less than 1,000 miles in that time.

Its bodywork and paint are in great shape, with no dents or dings in any of the panels. When the car arrived in the UK last year, it was converted to the correct specification LED headlights and tail lights, using genuine VW parts. Its Pure White paint finish is in very good condition, with no defects reported by the seller, and few if any small chips from road use. All of the body trims, window and door rubbers, present well, with no damage. It rides on the original 17-inch ‘Parabolica’ alloys, which do have some small scuffs around the rims, with more noticeable kerbing damage on the nearside front and offside rear wheels.

In the cabin, the original black and red ‘Jacara’ cloth is unique to the GTI model and remains in superb condition throughout. The rear seats are also equipped with individual headrests. There are a few marks on the interior plastics, but all of the switchgear works as it should. The original touch-screen media system is not functional in the UK, so has been removed. A replacement item or aftermarket alternative will need to be sourced by the next owner. The instrument cluster has already been changed to correct UK-market readouts on the dials. Factory-fitted equipment includes climate control, cruise control, and power folding wing mirrors.

Its last scheduled maintenance was carried out in December 2019 at 7,323 miles by Lancaster Volkswagen in St Albans. This consisted of a minor annual service and oil change, as well as a vehicle health check. As the vehicle is an import, it is understood that the first MOT is due by the end of 2020. The wheels are fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres in size 215/40 R17 all round, which have around 6mm of tread remaining.

This VW Polo GTI is a very clean example of an exciting hot hatch, presented in excellent condition with genuine low mileage. Having been imported last year, this is now a taxes-paid car that is ready to enjoy. With typically robust VW build quality and practicality, this is a great all-rounder that can play the part of reliable family transport as well as engaging performance car.
