• One of only five replicas of the iconic Ron Wood ‘Big Tube’ Norton flat track racer, which won the AMA Ascot Park Half-Mile National event three years in a row in the early 1970s.
  • This modern replica was built by 72 Motorcycles, in collaboration with Norton.
  • It is powered by a 960cc parallel-twin engine, producing 80bhp and 65lb-ft of torque, coupled to a five-speed transmission.
  • It benefits from a comprehensive maintenance history, despite its very low mileage.

  • This replica features a bespoke frame, developed to hold oil in the spine and utilise the engine as a stressed member.
  • It rides on Öhlins USD forks at the front and Öhlins Piggyback shocks at the rear, along with triple clamps machined at Fastec Racing in Newmarket.
  • Black ceramic-coated exhaust with a baffle insert.
  • Bespoke fuel tank welded together from four shaped metal sheets and painted with a period-correct Norton logo.
  • LED tail light and indicator strip.
  • One-inch diameter handlebars, as per official flat track race specification, with ISR brake and clutch levers.
  • Accompanying the vehicle are its original service book and a raft of maintenance invoices.

  • No damage to the frame or body.
  • Its original red paintwork is in excellent condition, though one small scratch can be seen to the rear of the seat frame.
  • Its cross-stitched black leather seat features a few light creases.
  • No electrical faults have been detected.
  • The most recent MOT test was on 19 February 2021 at 2,789 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories or defects.

  • Its last routine maintenance was in May 2021, where technicians at Krazy Horse London performed a 3,000 mile service, changing the engine oil, filter, spark plugs, gearbox oil and starter motor.

This 2017 Norton 961 MM ‘Flat Track’ replica is a convincing limited-edition tribute to the iconic Ron Wood ‘Big Tube’ Norton racer, which has been built by 72 Motorcycles. Presented with very low mileage, it is ready to ride and enjoy immediately, and would make an intriguing addition to any collection of two-wheeled machines.
