2016 MORGAN ROADSTER

This Morgan Roadster is a superb example of the unique British sportscar, which has been well-maintained and presents in a striking colourway. Its engine is a 3.7-litre Ford Cyclone V6, producing 280bhp and 280lb ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The odometer reads 3,600 miles.

First registered on 1 July 2016, this Morgan has had only two owners from new, with the current owner having cherished and enjoyed the car for the last two and a half years.

The Roadster is the replacement for the Morgan Plus 8, and was first introduced in 2004. The Ford-sourced engine is lighter than the previous Rover V8 used in the Plus 8, and the chassis continues to be of a standard ladder frame design.

Presenting boisterously in Sports Red, the Morgan’s paint finish is original to the car and in very good condition. Despite the low-slung ride height, the front is free of any major stone chips, with the headlight and indicator lenses also untarnished. The shutlines and door panels are taut, suggesting original panels throughout, while the characterful brightwork such as the rear bumper overriders, headlight bezels and luggage rack are in exceptional order. The vendor notes that there is a small scuff apparent on the driver’s side running board.

The Morgan’s manually-operated convertible top fits tightly and securely to the A-pillar, with no damage present in the material. This characterful British convertible retains its original 15in alloy wheels which are free of kerbing marks, with only minor degradation visible to the centre caps.

Inside, the Morgan wears a delicious combination of Yarwood black leather with red piping, combined with a traditional walnut dashboard. The contemporary design of the chrome-ringed modern dashboard instruments is offset by the three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel, which is in great condition with no damage. Other touch points including the handbrake lever and gearknob are also free of marks.

The two seats show only the lightest signs of usage, with minor creases apparent in the otherwise immaculate upholstery. The vendor states that all electrical systems in the car work as intended.

This Morgan has been cherished and regularly maintained to date. The last service was carried out at 1,950 miles by Bell and Colvill on 26 December 2017.

The most recent MOT test was on 3 September 2020 at 3,389 miles. This, like the only other MOT test the car has faced to date in September 2019, resulted in a first-time pass with zero advisories.

The Morgan rides on matching Avon ZV7 tyres all round, which present in good condition and with ample tread remaining. Now available to its next enthusiast owner, this retro-styled modern sportscar is offered with its original Morgan handbooks, MOT certificates and original toolkit.

Combining the charm and handbuilt joy of a post-war British roadster with the power and performance of a modern car, this Morgan Roadster is a well-appointed and carefully maintained example of the breed. While it would be a welcome addition to an existing collection, it is the ideal B-road tool or summer road trip car to enjoy on carefree warm days.

All UK-registered cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and has no finance owing.
