2016 MERCEDES-BENZ G500 4X4 SQUARED - BRABUS B40

This Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4 Squared is an incredible special edition of the G-Class, featuring the portal gear axles from the Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 six-wheeler, larger tyres and wider tracks to improve off-road ability. This example boasts a Brabus B40 upgrade, meaning the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now produces up to 493bhp and 523lb-ft of torque, coupled to the seven-speed automatic paddle-shift transmission, giving this go-anywhere vehicle a seriously impressive turn of pace on or off the road. The odometer currently shows 19,101 miles from new.

Initially designed as a concept car following high-demand for the G-Class, the production version of the G500 Squared was unveiled at the Geneva motor show in 2015 and brought into production the same year. This example is a UK-market car that was first registered in July 2016.

Compared to the standard G-Class, the G500 Squared offers more than double the ground clearance, at 450mm, as well as improved approach, departure and breakover angles, not to mention taking the wading depth from 600mm to a full 1000mm, giving it immense off-road capability.

This example boasts modified badging and sleek black paintwork, which presents very well. A few minor marks are visible on close inspection, commensurate with the age and mileage, while there is some surface damage to the lacquer around the carbon-fibre wheel arch extensions. The vehicle rides on 22-inch black Brabus alloy wheels with five twin-spokes, which sit in front of bold red Brabus brake callipers, and present in excellent condition.

Inside, the G500 Squared offers unparalleled comfort for such a capable off-roader, featuring black leather A45 AMG seats with red detailing, diamond-stitched door cards and a Harman Kardon sound system. The vendor notes the offside rear door can be slightly stiff to open and close, but the upholstery remains in excellent condition and no faults have been reported with any interior controls or electrics. A small piece of the Harman Kardon badging has broken on one of the speaker covers. There are more Brabus finishes inside, with logos appearing on the door sills and pedals.

The most recent MOT was on 10 May 2019, which resulted in a pass with one advisory to monitor a light misting of oil or limited damping effect on one of the offside front shock absorbers. The certificate is valid until 9 November 2020, though the vendor notes the vehicle will be handed over with a fresh 12-month MOT certificate. The vehicle rides on 325/55 R22 Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres on all four corners, which are the original items, but which still have a good level of tread remaining.
