2016 MCLAREN 650S SPIDER

KEY FACTS

  • A beautifully presented, low-mileage example of the thrilling convertible supercar, boasting even greater performance thanks to a professionally tuned ECU.
  • The car is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8, remapped to deliver 720bhp to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift.
  • As a result, this tuned 650S can complete the sprint from 0-62mph in under three seconds, before going on to a claimed top speed of 210mph.
  • The odometer displays just 12,026 miles from new.
  • This example has been cosmetically enhanced by an extensive number of carbon-fibre upgrades, including bonnet and rear bumper.
  • The car has had just one previous keeper, and has been with its current owner for the last three years.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

  • This 650S Spider is finished in Ice Blue metallic with a carbon-fibre bonnet, front splitter, side strakes, air scoops, rear bumper, diffuser, water tank and plenum cover, with an aftermarket satin black wrap fitted to the roof.
  • It rides on a staggered set of 19 and 20-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels with McLaren-badged centre caps and red brake callipers.
  • The cabin is upholstered in black leather, punctuated by red stitching and a carbon-fibre centre console and paddle shifters, as well as carbon-fibre accents on the steering wheel and door cards.
  • The 650S sports a range of factory-fitted equipment, including electrically adjustable heated sports seats with three-position memory, front and rear park assist with reversing camera, full front and rear LED lights, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a premium Meridian sound system.
  • The car boasts a DMS-tuned ECU, delivering 720bhp, which the owner states greatly improves mid-range power delivery.
  • Advanced drivers will also appreciate that the DMS upgrade prevents power from being cut when the brake and accelerator are applied at the same time, allowing left-foot braking.
  • A Carbon-fibre bonnet, front wings and louvres have been fitted to the vehicle. The original bonnet is also included in the sale.
  • Also included with the car are unfitted Thorney Motorsport wheel spacers and bolts, four unfitted McLaren alloy wheels and tyres, a stamped service book, and a McLaren trickle charger.

CONDITION

  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • The original Ice Blue metallic paintwork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition, with no visible marks or blemishes to speak of, and only one small nick in the PPF on the rear quarter panel.
  • All four alloy wheels are unmarked, as are the four spare wheels supplied with the car.
  • The owner states that the intake sound generator is malfunctioning, but will be replaced in readiness for the new owner. Otherwise, there are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
  • The most recent MOT test was carried out on 24 June 2021 at 11,233 miles, resulting in a clean first-time pass. The car has passed all three of its MOT tests first time and with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

  • This 650S Spider was most recently serviced in June 2021 at 11,218 miles by McLaren specialist Thorney Motorsport, who changed the oil, oil filter and brake fluid.

With its show-stopping looks reminiscent of the marque’s P1 hypercar, this carefully maintained, carbon-enhanced McLaren 650S Spider is an excellent example of the breed. Sporting a very handsome, contemporary colour scheme, a driver-focused cabin and noticeable power boost courtesy of a DMS ECU tune, this convertible supercar beautifully balances exceptional performance with surprising levels of comfort. As summarised by McLaren, the 650S Spider is a “refined cruiser one minute, track-day thrill-seeker the next.”
