2016 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 HERITAGE - 201 MILES

This 2016 Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage Hard Top is a stunning example of the marque’s desirable special-edition 4x4, presented in outstanding condition and with just over 200 miles on its odometer. Under the bonnet is the 120bhp 2.2-litre ‘DT224’ four-cylinder diesel, which drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with a lockable centre differential and selectable low-range gearing. The odometer displays a mere 201 miles from new.

Produced as the classic Defender’s swansong prior to the introduction of the all-new model; Heritage Edition cars such as this feature a number of nods to the Defender’s illustrious past. These include its Grasmere Green paint and Alaska White roof, a Heritage front grille and headlight surrounds, and a set of robust steel wheels. Furthermore, the door and tailgate hinges were finished in Indus Silver, while a decal on the front passenger-side wing and tags on the upholstery reference ‘HUE 166’ – the registration of the world’s oldest surviving Land Rover, which was built in 1948.

First registered on the Isle of Man on 18 February 2016, this Defender is offered for sale by its first and only keeper. It is currently stored in the UK, but would require re-registration if sold to a UK buyer – which is done by simply sending the IOM registration document to the DVLA together with an MOT certificate.

Owing to its incredibly low mileage and pampered life, this Defender’s bodywork and distinctive Grasmere Green paintwork are in excellent condition, the vendor noting only two very small marks on the roof. All of the body trims are pristine, as are the light lenses, windows, painted hinges and the tow bar. It rides on a set of body-coloured 16-inch steel wheels, which are unmarked.

Moving inside, the seats are upholstered in Almond cloth, and are as-new with no wear or damage. All of the plastics are also in great shape, and the Grasmere Green centre console reflects the body colour. Ahead of the driver, the leather-trimmed steering wheel is in superb order, while the two transmission levers feature colour-coded trims as a nod to the classic ‘Series’ Land Rovers. In keeping with the Defender’s reputation as a robust, no-nonsense utility vehicle, the floors and front seat box are covered in hardwearing textured black vinyl, which has a very slight tear beneath the passenger seat. Factory-fitted equipment includes heated seats, electric windows and heated front and rear screens. There are no faults with any of the buttons, switches or electrical items, nor are there are warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

Although it has covered just over 200 miles, this Land Rover has nonetheless been regularly serviced. Its most recent routine maintenance was carried out at 151 miles by authorised Land Rover dealer Mylchreests on the Isle of Man, which carried out an inspection and oil change. Prior to this, it was seen by the same dealer in February 2017 with just 28 miles on the odometer.

As MOT tests are not required on the Isle of Man, the vehicle has not yet been subjected to one, however this would have to be carried out in order for it to be registered with the DVLA. All four wheels are fitted with chunky Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tyres, which are in as-new condition.

The vehicle will be accompanied by all of its original handbooks, as well as its two keys and its Isle of Man registration certificate.

This Land Rover Defender 90 Heritage is an iconic British off-roader, which features a number of tributes to the model’s distinguished history and is presented in impeccable overall condition. With only 201 miles on its odometer, it has unashamedly been kept as a collector’s piece, and will no doubt make a fine addition to any enthusiast’s garage. However, it is ready to be put into action at a moment’s notice, when it will comfortably show how the classic Defender earned its rugged reputation, and why it remains so popular today.
