2016 BMW i8

This BMW i8 looks as futuristic today as it did when it was launched in 2014. As BMW’s first hybrid-electric sports car, the i8 offers superb performance as well as impressive handling. With 228bhp from its turbocharged 1.5-litre engine driving the rear wheels, and a 129bhp electric motor powering the front axle, the i8 can sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.4 seconds. The odometer shows 43,400 miles from new.

First registered on 14 December 2016, there are two previous keepers on the log book. Exempt from UK road tax, this i8 has been owned by the vendor for the last year.

With its butterfly opening doors the i8 looks pure concept car, and its angles and buttresses are accentuated by the Crystal White and black colour scheme. Close inspection shows paintwork that is in very good condition, with just stone chips from road use commensurate with the mileage. The 20-inch ‘Style 470’ wheels are finished in black to provide a strong contrast to the bodywork, and are in great shape with no kerbing damage.

The ‘Halo’ interior comprises Dalbergia Tan leather and Sabal cloth inserts, with electric blue seatbelts and stitching. Its upholstery is in excellent condition, with only modest signs of use and no heavy wear or discolouration. The steering wheel and seat bolsters have some minor wear in line with the mileage. Equipment fitted includes front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, heated electric seats, and the BMW Professional media system with satellite navigation. There are no known faults with any of the electrics, and no warning lights present.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in January 2020 at 39,767 miles by GC Motors in Harrogate. The engine oil and filter were changed, and all four tyres were also replaced. The two prior services were carried out in June 2019 at 27,875 miles and in May 2018 at 11,509 miles.

The last MOT was undertaken on 27 December 2019 at 39,332 miles with no advisories. The Bridgestone Potenza tyres are reported to be in excellent condition, having been fitted as part of the service in January 2020, and covering approximately 4,000 miles since.

Supplied with its BMW folder including owner’s manual and service record print-outs, this i8 is accompanied by the plug-in charging cable, and two keys – one touch-screen, one standard.

This BMW i8 is a great opportunity to acquire a radical plug-in hybrid sports car that still has a real ‘wow factor’ on the road.
