2016 BMW (F10) M5

This BMW M5 has all the makings of a future classic: potency, practicality, performance and panache. It is powered by a 552bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and is driven through the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with paddle shift. The odometer shows just 18,900 miles from new.

First registered in June 2016, this is a late example of the F10 M5, finished in the attractive hue of Black Sapphire over a Silverstone Extended Merino leather interior. The seller has owned the car for one year, having purchased it from Barons BMW in Hindhead. He has since covered around 6,000 miles, and there has only been one previous owner.

The paintwork is described as being in very good condition, with no dents or damage in the panels, and with a smooth and even appearance to the original Black Sapphire finish around the body. As the photographs show, the door shut panels and body trims present very well, and there are only a few small stone chips around the front. The seller has had the car cleaned regularly by a professional detailer, and even the brake disc hubs are still bright and shiny. The optional 20-inch five split-spoke alloy wheels show no signs of kerbing damage.

The seller describes the interior as being in excellent condition, with the Silverstone Extended Merino leather presenting very smartly. There are no defects or discolouration on the upholstery, and only very modest signs of use. The cabin features the optional M Comfort heated front seats with full multi-way electric adjustment, memory settings, and embossed headrests. The tri-colour stitched leather steering wheel still has a nice matt finish, but the seller does note that the gloss Piano Black trim does have some slight swirl marks which are visible in strong sunlight. Other desirable options include a powered glass sunroof, Comfort Access package (including soft-close doors, automatic steering wheel riser, and powered boot lid), heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, Harmon Kardon sound system, privacy glass, and adaptive xenon headlights.

There is also a head-up display,  adaptive suspension, four-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, automatic closing wing mirrors, along with automatic dimming for all rear view mirrors. It has the Surround View system with reversing camera, and BMW Professional media with satellite navigation, Bluetooth and DAB digital radio.  At the back of the car, the boot lining is very clean, and it has a power opening and closing function.

The most recent maintenance was carried out by Sytner Nottingham in November 2019 at 16,536 miles. This consisted of a major service including renewal of the engine oil, spark plugs, micro-filter, and air cleaner element. In January 2020, a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres – 265/35 ZR20 at the front and 295/30 ZR20 at the rear – was fitted at Sytner Nottingham, and a full BMW KDS wheel alignment was carried out.

Prior to this, the brake fluid was replenished in February 2019, the car was serviced in December 2017 at 8,484 miles, and it also had the very important running-in service at 1,121 miles in September 2016.  The car has spent its complete life with a service pack and BMW warranty so there has never been any reason for it to be neglected. Its last MOT test was on 28 May 2020 at 18,761 miles, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories. Sytner Nottingham produced a health check video at the time of the MOT test, showing the underneath of the vehicle, and where the technician remarked on the very good condition of all components.

Accompanying the car is a complete tool kit and all of the original books and literature. It also has an extended BMW warranty in place until 30 June 2020, which the next owner could renew if they wish.

This F10 M5 is a very smart example of a lauded M-car. Presented in an understated but handsome contrasting colour combination, it also benefits from genuine low mileage, and a fastidious seller. This car is one of the great super saloons, offering real-world practicality with exhilarating power, and it is certain to delight its next owner.
