2016 BAC MONO

This BAC Mono is a sensational performance car, designed with solo track use in mind, but which also delivered a truly thrilling experience on the road. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.3-litre inline-four Ford Duratec, developed and built by Cosworth, with rear-wheel drive via a Hewland six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shift. The odometer shows just 1,680 km (1,044 miles) from new.

Described as “a Formula 3 car for the road”, the Mono has bespoke pushrod suspension with motorsport-grade Eibach springs and Sachs shock absorbers. Carbon-fibre composite bodywork clothes a bespoke steel chassis, and the BAC is equipped with powerful AP Racing brakes. With a kerb weight of just 540kg, it has a power-to-weight ratio well in excess of 500bhp per tonne.

This particular car is a 2014 build, but was first registered for road use on 15 September 2016, shortly after the current owner acquired it. Since then it has been in dry storage as part of a private collection.

Its lightweight bodywork is in great shape, with no signs of any previous damage, and with smooth panels all around the car. The grey and black paint is also in superb order, and there is a partial application of paint protection film (PPF) around the front end. Carbon-fibre exterior elements such as the engine cover and elegant wing mirrors are pristine, and overall the car looks every inch a very low-mileage collector car. It rides on black 17-inch OZ Racing Alleggerita HLT alloys, which are in excellent condition, showing no kerbing grazes or other damage.

The single-seat cabin is upholstered in ‘extreme’ waterproof black leather for the lower portion, and Microcare synthetic suede for the upper sections. The finish also applies to the carbon-fibre bucket seat, with leather on the base and suede for the backrest insert. All of the trim is accented by bright red stitching. Ahead of the driver is a leather-trimmed quick-release steering wheel with carbon-fibre shift paddles. There are minimal signs of use on the upholstery and trim, again reflecting this car’s sparing use from new. All of the buttons and switchgear work are in good working order.

The car reportedly had engine oil changes and general inspections as needed, plus a factory service and update. Its first MOT test was carried out on 17 August 2020 at 1,677 km, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories whatsoever. The car wears the original Kumho Ecsta tyres, which are still in good condition with sufficient tread.

Accompanying the car is a memory stick that has digital owner’s guides, and the receipt for the factory service and update work is also on file.

This BAC Mono is an extreme performance car, which offers incredible pace and precision on the road or track. Even if you are used to driving lightweight sports cars, there is no other vehicle that is quite as pure or as driver-focused as the Mono. These hand-built and beautifully engineered machines remain a rare sight, and this is a great opportunity to acquire a very low-mileage example in superb order throughout.
