2016 ARIEL ATOM 3.5

This Ariel Atom 3.5 is an exhilarating no-frills sports car, which boasts blistering performance and is presented in smart overall condition. It is powered by a 310bhp supercharged 2.4-litre supercharged Honda Type R engine, which is driven through a six-speed manual transmission, allowing the Atom to rocket from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds. The odometer displays 7,668 miles from new.

First registered in June 2016, this Atom was specified with a black powder-coated chassis with white nose and air intake panels and silver wheels. It also features Bilstein dampers with Eibach springs and a roll bar for added safety. The car has been with its current keeper from new, seeing use in track driving experience days, and it is now offered for sale by the trade on their behalf.

The chassis and bodywork have no prior accident damage, though as it has been used as intended, the vehicle does feature a few marks on its surfaces, including scuffs on either side of the chassis where the driver and passenger have entered the cockpit, scratches on the top of the roll bar and stone chips on the leading edges of the frame. The composite body panels present well, with the only notable blemish being a small scuff on the front of the nosecone. This Atom rides on a staggered set of Team Dynamics alloys, with 15-inch items at the front and 16-inch wheels at the rear. All four are in very good shape and the shadow chrome finish is unmarked.

Stepping into the stripped-back cockpit, the moulded composite double seat is free of any cracks, showing only superficial scratches to its surface. It is fitted with a pair of Ariel-branded four-point harnesses, which help to keep both the driver and passenger in place during spirited drives and track sessions alike. Ahead, the black Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and digital dashboard unit are in good order, and all of the car’s electrical items are reported to work without fault.

This Atom 3.5’s most recent routine maintenance was a general oil service, which was carried out in December 2019 at approximately 7,000 miles by driver training school Car Limits. Prior to this, the engine oil and filter were replaced in December 2018, and a more in-depth service was performed by Ariel in February 2018 at approximately 4,500 miles. This included a gearbox and engine oil change, as well as replacement of the brake fluid, clutch fluid and the fuel filter. The vendor also notes that several issues were rectified by Ariel throughout 2018, including replacement of the K24 gearbox and clutch in August that year.

Although the car has not yet had its first MOT test, the vendor will ensure that this is conducted prior to its handover. All four alloy wheels are shod in Nankang tyres, which date to 2019 and have 5-6mm of tread remaining. This Atom will be accompanied by service invoices from both Ariel and Car Limits, detailing it recent maintenance.
