This 2015 Westfield Megabusa is perhaps the ultimate road-going iteration of the Westfield sports car, combining exhilarating performance with extensive modifications. Its engine is a second-generation 1340cc four-stroke petrol taken from a 150-mile 2014 Suzuki Hayabusa superbike, with considerable upgrades to produce a power-to-weight ratio of almost 400bhp per tonne. This power is marshalled to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox, paddle shift and a limited-slip differential. The odometer shows just 1,023 miles from new.
First registered on 1 March 2015, this Westfield has had only one owner from new, who has spent over £35,000 on extensive modifications to take it far beyond the standard specification, and to ensure a high level of track day performance. The engine produces 200bhp, and the car weighs just 508kg. The sprint from 0-60mph takes around 3.5 seconds.
The current vendor built the car from scratch using a Westfield kit, and has used reputable motorsport suppliers to extract maximum performance from every aspect of the car.
Its engine has been treated to the full SBD Motorsport package including standalone engine management, dry-sump system, Jenvey throttle bodies and upgraded injectors, and a ‘flat shifter’ and downshift blip system that allows clutchless and full throttle shifts. An AB Performance tuned header with equal length primaries is connected to an Edwards Motorsport back box. The package has been mapped by Jack Frost at Holeshot Racing.
Presented in an eye-catching orange gel coat, this Megabusa matches its otherworldly performance with arresting visuals. The finish is clear throughout with no discolouration, though the rear wheel arches exhibit some minor ‘road rash’ and would benefit from protector shields. The vendor notes some lacquer peel on the wing mirrors, as well as chipping on the front carbon-fibre cycle wings.
The chassis is strengthened by bonded and riveted side panels, which were factory powder coated in optional satin black. It has custom-built rose-jointed suspension arms allowing adjustment of the camber, caster, and toe angles, as well as a custom anti-roll bar, a 2.4:1 ratio quick steering rack, and anti-bump steer shims. The dampers are by Protech and have been correctly valved by Procomp Motorsport, and the suspension has been set up by VSM Motorsport.
Wearing matching Revolution four-spoke alloy wheels all round, the polished rims are free of kerbing marks, though the faces do show evidence of minor corrosion around the centre caps and bolts. They are staggered to improve handling, in 6.5-inch front and 7-inch rear sizing. One centre cap is missing.
The raw motorsport theme continues in the Westfield’s cabin, which features liberal use of carbon-fibre. The weight-saving material is in very good condition throughout, with no obvious scratches or cracks to be seen. Given its unavoidable exposure to the elements, there is a 10p-sized stone chip on the passenger seat, only visible from the rear. These Tillett Racing B6 carbon seats are in very good condition, with only light signs of use on the accompanying Schroth six-point harnesses.
The suede Momo steering wheel and AB Racing billet alloy shift paddles are in excellent condition, with no damage. The vendor reports that all switchgear is in full working order and that there are no pre-existing electrical faults with the vehicle.
This wonderfully entertaining sports car was last serviced on 1 August 2020 by the owner at 900 miles. The engine oil and oil filter were also replaced prior to this in March 2019, with the addition of replacement brake fluid. It has received extensive modifications and upgrades, and a full list of the installed components follows at the end of this listing.
The most recent MOT test in Northern Ireland was on 7 April 2019, resulting in a pass. Due to the ongoing pandemic, test centres in Northern Ireland are currently closed, and the car has therefore been granted an exemption until 5 February 2021.
Shod in matching Toyo Proxes R888 tyres with approximately 4mm of tread on all four wheels, the seller reports that these have been on the car since new, and would benefit from replacement if the next owner wishes to use the car hard on track.
Now offered to another enthusiast owner, this Westfield is accompanied by its historical supporting invoices, original Westfield build manual, wiring information and IVA test result. The seller owns a PRG Minisporter trailer that he would be happy to offer to the winning bidder at an additional cost of £2,800, should they require one.
Offering an unfiltered and raw drive with scintillating performance, this bespoke Westfield Megabusa is a very high specification car, and represents superb value for money for those looking to compete on track. It would make for a thrilling track day machine, or a hugely entertaining toy for weekend drives on the road.
