2015 RENAULTSPORT MEGANE RS 275 TROPHY-R

KEY FACTS

• A rare and thrilling lightweight hot hatch, equipped with the sought-after Nürburgring Pack and enhanced via a selection of well-chosen performance modifications.
• Under the bonnet is a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four, uprated by RSTuning, which drives the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
• One of only 250 examples produced, this Renaultsport Megane RS 275 Trophy-R was the first of its kind delivered to Australia, where it was used as a press vehicle to promote the model’s launch. Having therefore gained a compliance plate when new, it would be straightforward to register in Australia again. The car is now located in Hong Kong.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

• Weighing in at 1280kg, the ‘R’ was around 100kg lighter than the less extreme 275 Trophy.
• This was achieved by removing the rear seats, stripping away much of the car’s sound deadening and fitting a pair of lightweight Recaro seats for the driver and passenger.
• Furthemore, the radio and air-conditioning system were removed, and a simplified centre console was fitted.
• As with the 275 Trophy, the Trophy-R is equipped with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.
• This example was also specified with the Nürburgring Pack, which comprises the Performance Braking kit with lightweight 350mm brake discs, a lithium-ion battery, and Sabelt harnesses.
• The car has also been fitted with an aftermarket internal roll cage by AGI, which met and exceeded the CAMS requirements in Australia.
• Its performance has been enhanced via an ECU tune from RSTuning in the UK, as well as a turbo dump pipe and a set of hard intercooler pipes with ceramic coating for improved cooling.
• This high-performance Megane will be accompanied by its original handbook, logbook and tool kit, as well as invoices detailing its past maintenance.

CONDITION

• No bodywork damage.
• Believed to be entirely original, and protected by a ceramic coating, the Pearl White paintwork is in very good condition, with a few minor stone chips on the car’s front end, but no substantial marks or scratches.
• Inside, the black leather and Alcantara-trimmed seats are in great shape, with no significant wear. The seller notes that there is a small blemish on the driver’s door card, but this is only a minor issue.
• There are no known electrical or mechanical faults.

SERVICE HISTORY

• This Trophy-R’s most recent routine maintenance was a general oil service, which was conducted in April 2021 at an indicated 28,802km, with the brake fluid being changed shortly beforehand.
• Prior to this, the engine oil was also changed in December 2020.

SUMMARY

This Renaultsport Megane RS275 Trophy-R is a superb example of the rare lightened special edition that broke the front-wheel drive lap record around the Nordschleife. Presented in excellent condition and benefitting from both the Nürburgring Pack and some discerning performance modifications, this track-focused hot hatch will set its next owner’s pulse racing on the circuit and the road alike.
