2015 MCLAREN 650S

This McLaren 650S is a highly specified, low-mileage example of the marque’s sensational modern supercar. It is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing 641bhp, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shift, resulting in a claimed 0-60mph time of just 2.9 seconds, and an even more impressive 5.7 second sprint from 0-100mph. The odometer indicates 13,964 miles.

Introduced in 2014 as a development of the 12C, the McLaren 650S offered enhanced performance courtesy of a reworked engine, while its P1-inspired styling is still echoed in the marque’s current design language.

First registered on 14 April 2015, this particular example benefits from around £25,000 worth of factory options, including special order Storm Grey paintwork,  the ‘Stealth’ pack, a sports exhaust system, carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight alloy wheels and the Tech Pack, which includes the vehicle front lift system for greater daily usability. The cabin is similarly well-appointed, thanks to McLaren’s Comfort pack, a full leather upgrade, carbon-fibre racing seats and the carbon interior trim package.

Well cared-for and serviced exclusively by McLaren from new, this 650S remains under warranty with a few months remaining, and is now being offered for sale by its current owner, who has enjoyed it for the past 14 months.

The Frank Stephenson-designed bodywork of this 650S is reported to be in excellent, undamaged condition. A special order from the factory, the original Storm Grey paintwork is in great shape, with a smooth glossy appearance across the entire body, though there are some small stone chips to the front bumper and lower flanks, commensurate with the car’s roads use.

This stunning McLaren rides on its original set of optional super-lightweight forged alloy wheels, which are finished in ‘Stealth’ matt grey metallic. All four are in good order; however there is a minor chip to the edge of the rear passenger-side wheel, which was caused by a fitting machine when the tyres were replaced.

Carbon-fibre centre caps add a racy touch and the high-performance carbon-ceramic brake discs are gripped by bright red callipers – adding a vibrant contrast while complementing the interior trim.

In the cabin, a full leather upgrade gives the interior of this 650S a more luxurious ambience. Eye-catching Harissa Red leather covers the upper and lower portions of the seats, as well as the door card inserts, upper central tunnel and sections of the dashboard. Elsewhere, the seats’ centres and bolsters are clad in smooth black hide, as is the remainder of the dashboard and the door panels.

Specified from new, the optional carbon-fibre racing seats present very well, with only minor wear to the padding on the driver’s seat’s outer bolster. Thanks to the addition of the full carbon interior package, the centre console and the steering wheel’s spokes are presented in the appealing lightweight material, which retains a glossy appearance throughout.

The car’s black Alcantara headlining is also in very good shape, as is the black carpeting, which is protected by McLaren-branded floor mats. For added convenience, this 650S benefits from a range of factory-fitted equipment, including a power-adjustable steering wheel, front and rear park assist, a reversing camera and the high-end Meridian sound system. The seller states that all of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault, and there are no warnings displayed on the dashboard.

Fastidiously maintained and serviced annually by main dealers, its last routine visit was in September 2020 at 13,956 miles, when McLaren Birmingham carried out a five-year service. This entailed replacement of the engine oil and oil filter, a coolant change and replacement of the key fob’s battery, as well as a general vehicle health check, with no issues noted.

Prior to this, the car received its scheduled annual services in August 2019 at 11,742 miles and in July 2018 at 10,058 miles, by McLaren Birmingham and McLaren Glasgow, respectively.

This McLaren 650S’ last MOT test was conducted in June 2019, which it passed first time without a single advisory. Due to recent events, its test certificate was extended by six months, and is now due to expire in December 2020. The wheels are shod in McLaren’s recommended Pirelli P-Zero MC1 tyres. Both rear items have been replaced during the seller’s 14 months of ownership and all four now have around 6mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying the car are its original, fully stamped service book, invoices for its last two services, the car’s McLaren handbook, quick guide and IRIS infotainment system guide. The car is also supplied with its factory first aid kit, fire extinguisher and tool kit, as well as both keys and a Vodafone fob for the tracker system.

This McLaren 650S is a fantastic example of a deeply impressive contemporary supercar, which offers astounding performance, sleek styling and everyday usability. Benefitting from £25,000 of factory options, this example is a cut above many others, thanks in part to its luxuriously appointed two-tone leather interior, carbon-ceramic brakes and highly practical front lift system. Bound to impress and thrill its next owner in equal measure, it will make a fantastic addition to any collection, and is ready to delight on the open road or the track.
