2015 LOTUS EXIGE V6 CUP

As one of only ten Black Edition cars built to celebrate 44 years of partnership between the marque and specialist dealer Bell & Colvill, this Lotus Exige V6 Cup is an exceptionally rare version of the lightweight sports car, which is presented in impressive condition and with a number of cosmetic modifications. It is powered by a 345bhp 3.5-litre supercharged V6, which is driven through the rear wheels via an involving six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays just 7,633 miles.

First registered in October 2014, this Black Edition V6 Cup is set apart from its standard production brethren by its unique matt and gloss black paintwork, red contrast stitching in its cabin, air-conditioning and a Bell & Colvill-developed Quicksilver exhaust system. This example has also been fitted with a number of red-accented gloss black exterior components, including its front splitter and canards, front access panel, and rear wing. Today, its log book lists three prior keepers, and the car is offered for sale by its current owner, who acquired it nine months ago.

The bodywork is in great shape, with no record of any previous accident damage, and with consistent shut lines around the car. While it would have originally have featured monochrome matt and gloss black components, the car’s exterior has been given a few unique red accents, which feature on its replacement front splitter, canards and access panel, as well as the side skirts, rear diffuser and wing. The paintwork is described by the vendor as being in good condition, and while there are a few stone chips on the front bumper and the sides of the vehicle, it has been spared any significant damage thanks to the layer of paint protection film applied to the nose and side sills. This Exige rides on its original staggered set of 17-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels, which are finished with gloss black paintwork and are in pristine condition.

Inside, the carbon-fibre bucket seats are trimmed in black Alcantara with red stitching, which is unique to the Black Edition. Both are in great shape, with no noticeable marks or blemishes on their surfaces. They are complemented by bespoke sill covers, which the seller has had re-trimmed in black Alcantara and embroidered with Colin Chapman’s famous motto of ‘Simplify, then add lightness’.

Ahead, the dashboard and Momo steering wheel have also been recovered in the synthetic suede material, and the latter features red leather handgrips, providing the driver with an attractive yet hardwearing touchpoint. In addition, an AIM motorsport dashboard display/data logger has been fitted, which shows all of the car’s vital information, plus automatic lap time recording. All of the interior buttons, switches and electrical items work without fault.

This Exige’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in June 2020 at 6,298 miles by Central Lotus, who replaced the brake pads, engine oil and oil filters, and also serviced the car prior to the seller’s ownership.

Mechanically, this lightweight racer is almost entirely standard, save for the addition of a red silicone air intake hose to carry its colour scheme into the engine bay and the fitment of a lightweight Liteblox lithium battery, which cost £1,200 when new.

Its last MOT test was conducted on 8 July 2020, which resulted in a first-time pass with no advisories. All four wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, which were fitted when the seller acquired the car nine months ago, and appear to be in good overall condition.

This Exige V6 Cup will be accompanied by documentation of its service history and maintenance invoices which were provided to the seller by the previous owner.

Already a rare limited-run sports car, this Lotus Exige V6 Cup Black Edition has been enhanced with the addition of a number of unique touches to both its exterior and cabin, and is now offered for sale in fantastic overall condition. While it can undoubtedly be enjoyed on the road, its lightweight construction and dynamic handling make it ideally suited for use on the track, where it is sure to thrill and delight its next owner on every lap.
