2015 LOTUS EXIGE S CLUB RACER

This Lotus Exige S Club Racer is a pared-back lightweight sports car, presented in superb condition with comprehensive history. It is powered by a 345bhp 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine, coupled to a slick six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 14,453 miles from new.

Announced in 2015, the Club Racer was based on the standard Exige S model, but featured lighter seats, doors, and a centre console, stripping around 15kg from the mass so that it weighed in at just 1,161kg. It was sold as a coupe with a secured hard top, though several examples - of which this car is one - are known to have been converted to be able to fit a soft top as well.

First registered in October 2015, the clear HPI report on file shows just one previous registered keeper. It has been owned by the seller for more than three years.

The bodywork is in superb condition, with no accident damage. Its Solar Yellow paint finish is also in very good order, being covered by paint protection film (PPF) to the front, so there are few if any stone chips around the body. The seller does note one rear quarter panel with some paint crazing damage, which is shown in the media gallery. It features matt black exterior trim details, including lightweight five-spoke alloy wheels with a 17-inch diameter at the front and 18-inch at the rear. The brake discs are accented by red painted calipers, and there are ‘CR’ graphics around the body.

In the cabin, the black leather upholstery is complemented by Solar Yellow stitching, and is in great shape throughout. There is no noticeable wear on the lightweight sport seats, and only some small marks on the sill cover plates. Factory-fitted equipment includes air-conditioning, rear parking sensors, a heated rear screen, and an Alpine CDE-102 stereo head unit with CD player and USB input. A cruise control stalk has been fitted and programmed by Lotus Edinburgh.

The last scheduled maintenance was carried out in November 2019 by Lotus specialist Craig Moncrieff Cars in Edinburgh. This was a full fourth-year service that included renewal of the engine oil and filter, brake fluid, coolant, gearbox oil, and spark plugs.

Prior to this, Craig Moncrieff Cars also saw and serviced the car in December 2018 at 13,401 miles, and it visited Lotus Carlisle in October 2017 at 6,667 miles. On both occasions the engine oil and filter were renewed, along with the brake fluid. The front brake discs have been replaced with two-piece floating items.

The most recent MOT test was carried out on 5 November 2019 at 14,399 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. It had been tested a week earlier, though one of the shock absorbers was leaking, so was replaced with a new item.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in size 215/45 ZR17 at the front and 265/35 ZR18 at the rear. The front tyres have around 4mm of tread remaining, while the rear tyres have just been fitted so are virtually as-new.

Accompanying the car are all of the original books, including the owner’s manual and the stamped maintenance record. The tool kit is also present, along with two original keys. The seller reports that a security tracker device is fitted to the car, which can be transferred to the next owner should they wish to keep up the subscription. A fabric soft top is also included, which can be used instead of the standard roof panel.

This Lotus Exige S Club Racer is a superb example of a thrilling lightweight sports car. In 2012, the standard Exige S was the joint winner - with the Pagani Huayra - of Evo magazine’s prestigious ‘Car of the Year’ award, and the Club Racer variant is even more driver-focused. Finished in a vibrant colour combination, and with meticulous maintenance history, this is a sensational performance car that will delight its next owner.
