2015 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 LANDMARK EDITION

This Land Rover Defender 90 Landmark Edition is among the last production models of the timeless British off-roader, offered for sale in highly original condition and with low ownership to date. Under the bonnet is a 2.2-litre DT224 diesel engine producing 120bhp, delivering power to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer displays 53,156 miles.

This UK-market, right-hand drive Defender was first registered on 11 September 2015, and has just one previous owner. The vendor has enjoyed and maintained this iconic 4x4 for the last year.

Before the Defender’s 67-year continuous production run came to a close in January 2016, the Landmark Edition was one of the very last special series models built at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull facility.

All Landmark Edition cars received gloss black headlight fascias, wing vents, wheel arches, front grille and bonnet script, as well as a gloss black roof panel, rear privacy glass and side step protectors.

Wearing the smart shade of Corris Grey, this Defender is understood to retain its original paint and presents in excellent condition. The finish is free of major defects, suggesting a gentle life lived on-road, and retains a metallic sparkle under sunlight. Minor surface corrosion is apparent on the rear metal bumper and bolts, with corrosion also appearing in some of the door hinges. The stylish 16-inch diamond-turned silver alloy wheels are in excellent condition.

Moving inside, the Defender’s utilitarian cabin is a mix of hard-wearing plastics and plush leather seating. The Ebony upholstery is in excellent order, with no rips or tears to the Land Rover-embossed seats. The rear seats are also foldable to aid practicality. The black gloss dashboard trims are free of scratches, though the lower dashboard, rear interior trim and load bay have some minor scuffs and signs of regular usage.

This example retains the Landmark Edition’s unique interior specification, including Alcantara headlining, air-conditioning, an Alpine CD radio head unit with Bluetooth functionality, and a matching subwoofer as part of an audio system upgrade. An aftermarket Momo racing steering wheel has been fitted, which could easily be removed should the buyer wish to revert to standard specification.

The vendor reports that this Land Rover has evidently been well-maintained throughout its five years on the road. He has also had the ladder chassis and underside of the vehicle treated with Waxoyl during his ownership to protect against rust carried out by Promec near Cardiff.

Before he acquired the car, it was given a full service in July 2019 at 51,854 miles, carried out by Land Rover specialist Rhydymwyn Service Station. The engine oil and filter were renewed, along with the air filter, fuel filter, the transfer case fluid, and the front and rear differential oils.

There are notes of two other prior services on file, in May 2017 where the mileage was not recorded, and in June 2016 at Hunters Land Rover when the odometer stood at 13,264 miles.

The most recent MOT test was on 20 September 2019 at 52,396 miles. This resulted in a clean pass with no advisories. The seller will provide a fresh 12-month certificate to the next owner. Outfitted with matching Continental CrossContact A/T tyres all round, these are in the correct sizing of 225/85/R16. They are said to be in very good condition with ample tread depth remaining.

This Defender will be sold inclusive of its original handbooks, partial service history record, spare wheel and two keys. With the exception of the steering wheel, it remains a completely original example of a rare model.

This Land Rover Defender 90 Landmark Edition is a well-specified and well-presented example of an automotive icon, offering an unmistakable blend of rugged design, durability and desirability. It is a usable example of a rare run-out model, which would make for a highly capable off-road workhorse, or could simply continue in its use as smart on-road transport.

All UK-registered cars and motorbikes on Collecting Cars are run through an online HPI check. This vehicle shows no insurance database markers for damage or theft. It is currently covered by a finance agreement, but the remaining balance will be cleared before ownership is transferred to the buyer.
