2015 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 LANDMARK EDITION

This Land Rover Defender 90 Landmark Edition is among the last production examples of the world-famous automotive design icon, offered by the first and only owner from new. It is powered by the 2.2-litre DT224 diesel engine producing 120bhp, with permanent four-wheel drive via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows just 176 delivery miles from new, and as you would expect it remains in outstanding condition.

The Landmark Edition was one of the special run-out models offered by Land Rover to mark the end of an era, with the winding down of Defender production before the very last car came off the line at Solihull in January 2016.

While the main exterior paint colour could be changed, all of the Landmark Defenders were fitted with the stylish 16-inch diamond-turned silver alloy wheels; a gloss black finish to the headlight fascias, wing vents, wheel arches, front grille, and bonnet script; a gloss black roof; rear privacy glass; and side step protection runners.

In the cabin, it was kitted out with full premium leather upholstery, heated seats, black Alcantara headlining, a CD radio head unit with Bluetooth, the Alpine audio system upgrade with subwoofer, a leather steering wheel, and air-conditioning.

Ordered from the factory by a collector in South East England, this Defender 90 Station Wagon was supplied on 3 September 2015 by Westover Land Rover in Dorset. It was subsequently kept in pristine, unused condition, and stored within a large, weather-proof outbuilding that houses a number of his cars.

As you would expect, this Land Rover’s bodywork remains in pristine condition. It has never been out in the rain, and has of course never been used off-road. There is no damage or corrosion on any of the panels, and the original Corris Grey finish presents in superb order.

All of the window seals, plastic body trims, hinges, and light lenses are unspoilt and as-new. The diamond-turned alloy wheels are unmarked and still have a brilliant shine to their appearance.

Inside, all of the leather upholstery is unworn, retaining the textured matt finish of showroom-fresh trim. While the rubber floor mats do have a few superficial imprints from when the Defender has been moved around its garage building, there is no damage or wear to any of the carpets, the ancillary interior trim or the switchgear. Naturally, all of the electrics work perfectly.

While the Defender has essentially been stored since delivery, it has been periodically started, run and manoeuvred around the yard outside the outbuilding, to ensure all of the mechanical components still move freely and smoothly. If the next owner wishes to use the car extensively on the road, a lubricant service may be advisable beforehand to ensure the fluids are fresh.

The diamond-turned alloys - including the full-size spare - are fitted with the original set of Goodyear Wrangler MT/R all-terrain tyres in size 235/85 R16, which are all as-new and date-coded to 2015.

Accompanying this Defender is the original leather wallet containing the Land Rover sales literature and owner's manual, as well as the stamped and dated warranty booklet. A set of dealer-supplied lanyards is also present, along with two keys and remote fobs.

This Land Rover Defender 90 Landmark Edition is a handsome and high-specification example of a timeless design, with only delivery and storage miles on the odometer. The Defender finds enthusiasts among every generation, and with the all-new model arriving this year, the original icon will surely remain as collectable as ever.
