2015 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 XS BY URBAN AUTOMOTIVE

This Land Rover Defender 110 XS is a hugely capable on- and off-roader, presented in excellent condition and benefiting from an extensive investment in cosmetic and mechanical upgrades from Urban Automotive. Under the bonnet sits the 2.2-litre DT224 engine, tuned to around 170bhp, which drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 38,183 miles from new.

First registered in June 2015, this Defender has been with its current owner for two-and-a-half years, and it was purchased directly from Urban Automotive. It boasts an upgraded ECU, intercooler and exhaust, also featuring a Bilstein steering damper, Tarox brakes and 30mm wheel spacers. All of the main modifications – totalling just over £21,500 – were completed when the car was new, but the vendor subsequently spent an additional £3,500 on further improvements before taking delivery. A full rundown of all the modifications is included in the photo gallery.

To the best of the owner’s knowledge, this Defender has never sustained any damage, nor had to undergo any underbody repairs. During their ownership, it has never been off-road, and has been kept securely garaged whenever not in use, helping to keep it looking sharp. The panels are finished in a deep Santorini Metallic Black finish, and the condition of the paintwork is described as generally excellent. A minor scratch is visible on the tailgate and some stone chips can be seen around the front end.

This example features privacy glass and darkened Defender badging, as well as Urban Truck lettering on the bonnet and rear end. The door hinges were also upgraded to stainless steel items, so present in rust-free condition unlike many Defenders of the same age. It further benefits from a recent and comprehensive seven-stage detailing session by All That Gleams in Chilworth, Surrey, finishing with a full application of ceramic coating.

The car has been fitted with Nolden bi-LED headlights behind crystal lenses, a KBX front grille, light surrounds and vents, while the wing mirrors have been replaced with high gloss alternatives. Underneath, this Defender features sport suspension with a two-inch lowering kit, an Urban Truck anti-roll bar kit, a Bilstein damper package and Schutz underseal. The original anti-roll bars have been retained and are also available. The car rides on a set of black 18-inch ‘Sawtooth’ alloy wheels, which present in good order on all four corners, with clear Land Rover badging in the centres.

Moving inside, the car comes with Corbeau RRS seats which are trimmed in black and remain in good condition, with minimal wear. There are some small nicks in the moulding around the rear window on the nearside, clearly shown in the gallery, and for which the vendor has been quoted £339 plus VAT for the cost of a new moulding. The cabin has been given Urban Truck floor mats and an LED interior light package, as well as a neatly fitted Alpine infotainment unit with Bluetooth connectivity, a reversing camera and upgraded sound system. The instrument clusters, central analogue clock and dashboard controls appear in very good order, while the Momo Quark steering wheel is also in great shape.

Additional Dynamat soundproofing has been installed by Urban Automotive, while the roof lining has been upgraded to black Alcantara. The rear storage area is in good condition and benefits from a rubber floor guard, which appears free of any damage, and the vendor reports that the carpet underneath is immaculate. The load bed has also been raised in order to fit a substantial and lockable Goliath Storage Drawer underneath.

The Defender has full annual service history from new, and has evidently been superbly maintained. The last scheduled service was undertaken in July 2020 at 37,677 miles, where technicians at Range Rover specialist SLR Automotive in Surrey changed the engine oil, filter, and differential oil. Prior to this, in May 2019 at 32,331 miles, SLR Automotive changed the axle oil, air cleaner and brake pads. In May 2018 at 27,468 miles, Elliot Engineering Ltd in Pulborough carried out the car’s three-year service.

The most recent MOT test was on 17 July 2020 at 37,679 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The wheels come wrapped with BFGoodrich tyres, which the vendor reports had 7mm of tread remaining at the time of the last MOT.

Accompanying the vehicle is the original handbook, along with warranty documents, Alpine stereo manuals and two keys. The service history is recorded in Jaguar Land Rover’s online portal, with the exception of the 2018 visit, though this invoice and others shown in the gallery also evidence the work completed.

This Land Rover is a highly bespoke ‘Urban Defender’, which boasts a number of performance upgrades and discerning cosmetic changes that makes it stand out from the crowd. Not to be confused with standard specification cars, the extensive custom revisions both improve the car’s on-road manners and give it significantly enhanced visual presence. This Defender would make a superb all-rounder for daily use, or could be put to occasional use in more adventurous settings.
