2015 KTM X-BOW GT - VAT Q

This 2015 KTM X-Bow GT is a more usable version of the Austrian marque’s astonishing raw but road-legal track car, boasting a windscreen, windows and the optional detachable roof. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine from Audi, uprated to 324bhp and 350lb-ft of torque on this high-specification car, coupled to an engaging six-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently indicates just 8,893 miles from new, though this will increase slightly as the car is still in use.

An original UK-market car, first registered in June 2015, there is just one previous registered keeper on the log book. This X-Bow GT is currently owned by the UK dealer for the model, Darkside Developments, and is only being sold due to the acquisition of a newer 2020/21 demonstration car.

A working showcase for the ‘ultimate’ X-Bow specification with a raft of KTM PowerParts upgrades, this car is fitted with the PowerParts racing de-cat pipe, diverter valve, and weight-saving vacuum strike plate. It also borrows the high-pressure fuel regulator valve as used on Audi’s R8 and RS4 models, plus a set of R8 coil packs. The factory option of a Drexler mechanical plated limited-slip differential is installed, along with a short-shift kit, solid aluminium bush kit for the linkage ends, and solid aluminium shifter bracket bushings for the gearbox.

It features the PowerParts Aerodynamics Park 1, which comprises an additional carbon-fibre front splitter and two flaps to optimise air flow to the cooling system and increase downforce on the front axle, as well as the racing rear wing. In total, this list price and options on this particular X-Bow GT came to around £115,000 – so it should not be confused with cars of a more basic specification.

With tweaks to the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and upgraded aerodynamics, the X-Bow GT boasted less drag and more downforce over the standard car. The white paintwork and exposed carbon-fibre present in excellent condition, though the vendor notes some small stone chips on the front end, as can be expected with a track car.

The windscreen and windows on the GT have a very high-quality feel, and the car also comes with a manually attachable roof, which fits snugly and gives the car a good deal more practicality for road trips.

It rides on black KTM five-spoke alloy wheels, which measure 17-inches at the front and 18-inches at the rear, housing substantial Brembo brake discs and callipers. A fresh set of Yokohama AO52 road-legal track tyres will be fitted before handover to the next owner, while a second set of wheels with Uniroyal Rainsport tyres can be included by separate negotiation.

Inside, the GT has Recaro seats with waterproof padding, full race harnesses and an adjustable pedal box and steering wheel. With exposed carbon-fibre all round and a button-laden steering wheel, the GT still feels like a true racer. The wheel, gear knob and central screen all appear free of any damage, while the driver has reported no faults with any electrics.

The vendor notes the vehicle received fresh engine oil and filters approximately every 1,000 miles, and in their year of ownership, the car has received two oil changes and two full services, including brake fluid changes and a coolant flush. The car has also been stripped down and had all joints re-greased during the last year.

The most recent MOT was undertaken on 25 September 2020, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. This X-Bow will also be fully serviced again by Darkside Developments before handover to its next owner.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original handbooks and factory documentation, and the vendor – the UK dealer for the X-Bow – can also supply a jack, service stands and toolkit if required. Furthermore, the appropriate registration ‘G8 XBO’ is also included.

This KTM X-Bow GT has been described by its current owner as the ultimate track toy, and with durable brakes and tyres, it is said to have low running costs compared to many of its rivals – despite the remarkable outright performance. Combining the added practicality of the GT with numerous performance-enhancing options and KTM PowerParts upgrades, this incredible pared-back sports car would make a great buy for a regular track day entrant or thrill-seeking road trip enthusiast alike.
