This Audi S3 Saloon is a superb example of the marque’s handsome and practical performance car. Under the bonnet lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four TFSI engine producing 296bhp and 280lb-ft of torque, driving all four wheels via a seven-speed twin-clutch S-Tronic automatic transmission with paddle shift. The odometer reads 35,575 miles, though this may increase very slightly during the auction.

First registered on 30 January 2015, this UK-market example is offered for sale by the current vendor, who has owned the car for the past five months. The car has been covered by an Audi extended warranty during the owner’s tenure, which is non-transferrable but supports the car’s well-cared for condition.

It remains in near-standard condition throughout, with the addition of an exhaust resonator delete to enhance its aural character, as well as coding out of the stop-start functionality. The Audi’s driving lights have also been modified to a US style, with the indicator lights dimly lit but remaining legal – though the changes are easily reversible through code updates should the next owner prefer. The rear privacy glass has also been upgraded from the factory clear specification.

Finished in Sprint Blue, the S3 is believed to retain its original paintwork throughout. Some stone chips are visible on the front splitter, bumper and a small number on the bonnet, as befitting a car of its age. This example has also been fitted with an upgraded front grille, replete with ‘quattro’ script, while there are also black badges front and rear.

Overall, this S3 presents very well indeed, with the bodywork retaining flush shut lines throughout. The 19-inch alloy wheels remain in good condition, with minor kerbing marks visible and no damage to their faces or centre caps.

Inside, the S3’s business-like interior presents well, with only the slightest signs of wear visible on both front leather seats. Both the front and rear seats present well, with no damage, while the dashboard switchgear is also free of scratches or scuffs. The vendor states that all electrical accessories including the car’s MMI system remain in full working order.

The car has a full Audi service history. The most recent was carried out in January 2020 at 28,903 miles (including Audi Health Check), though the brake fluid was also changed in June 2020 at 32,273 miles. In November 2019, the transmission oil was changed at 26,187 miles, while in December 2018 a major service was carried out at 22,642 miles. An earlier service was carried out in November 2016 at 12,447 miles, with the running-in oil service completed in 18 August 2015.

The most recent MOT test was on 1 November 2020 at 34,900 miles. This was a first-time pass with zero advisories – and this S3 has passed every MOT it has faced to date with the same clean result. Wearing matching Continental SportContact tyres, these are free of damage but will require replacement in the near future as they have around 3mm of tread.

This Audi S3 Saloon is a handsome and well-maintained example of the compact performance car. Offering stylish design, impressive outright pace and superb all-weather capability, it would make for a dependable daily driver or an enjoyable weekend toy.
