2014 LOTUS EXIGE S ROADSTER

This well-presented and high-specification Lotus Exige S Roadster is a fine example of the brand’s engaging V6 sports car and features a rare factory colour scheme of Ardent Red over an Ivory White leather interior, as well as several comfort-enhancing options.

While Lotus is best known for its focus on lightweight chassis dynamics and sharp handling over outright power, the Exige S Roadster’s mid-mounted supercharged 3.5-litre V6 generates 345bhp which is delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. This, combined with a kerb weight of just 1,166kg made it the marque’s fastest soft-top car back in 2013, reaching 60mph from rest in a claimed 3.8 seconds.

Specified with the Premium Pack, this example is fitted with heated leather seats, leather door inserts, and a black leather Momo steering wheel. There are also black leather coverings to the sill guards, dashboard, and air vent surrounds, plus extra sound-insulating material and black carpeting throughout. It also benefits from the Convenience Pack, adding cruise control, USB connectivity, a cup holder and trinket-tray divider, plus optional air-conditioning and rear parking sensors.

First registered in May 2014, this Exige is now displaying just 24,570 miles on the odometer. It first keeper was Lotus dealer Bell and Colvill, where it was used as a demonstrator, hence its raft of factory options. There is just one additional private keeper prior to the seller.

The bodywork and Ardent Red paintwork both present in good order, with the seller noting only a handful of minor imperfections. While there are some small stone chips present, there is paint protection film applied to the lower front bumper and door mirrors, helping to keep these to a minimum. There is a small blemish to the front fluid access-point, which has been touched in, and a small section of the rear ‘S’ badge has broken off. It rides on lightweight alloy wheels finished in Sparkle Bright Silver, with a 17-inch diameter at the front and 18-inch at the rear, all of which are in superb condition.

Looking to the interior, the heated diamond-quilted leather seats and door card inserts provided by the Premium Pack introduce a touch of luxury not usually seen in Lotus’ pared-back performance cars, and contrast with the black leather covering the door sills, dashboard and face-level vents. The seats are in excellent condition, with no damage to the leather, stitching or the embroidered Lotus crests that grace the headrests.

Indeed, the only noticeable wear to the interior are some small marks to the leather sill covers and slight wear to some of the push buttons. The black fabric soft top is also in great condition, and the seller is including a hard top with a carbon-fibre-effect wrap and air duct.

Further enhancing the interior, as well as the driving experience, the car has also been fitted with a bolt-on gear shift gate manufactured by US Lotus tuner Greg’s Race Parts (GRP) – however the original parts are also included in the sale. An aftermarket Alpine stereo head unit has also been installed to provide Bluetooth connectivity, but again, the original item comes with the car.

During the current ownership, this Exige S has been fitted with a Quicksilver exhaust system, enhancing the aural experience without excessive volume. This replaces the standard valved system, however the original exhaust will be provided.

The seller notes that the car was last serviced in February 2020, when its engine oil and oil filter were replaced, and there is an invoice on file. Prior to this, it was serviced by Central Lotus Nottingham in March 2019 at 22,484 miles, with work including replacement of the engine oil, oil filter, brake fluid, brake discs and pads, and two front tyres. In May 2018, at 19,954 miles, the coolant was replenished and the brake fluid was renewed.

The last MOT test was carried out on 1 June 2020 at 24,578 miles, where it received a first-time pass with no advisories. Indeed, this Exige S appears to have led a trouble-free existence, with its only test failure being in 2017 due to tyre wear. All four Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres now fitted are described as being in good condition with plenty of remaining tread.

Accompanying the car are its original exhaust, gear gaiter parts and factory stereo head unit, as well as a simple hard top. The original handbooks, service books and document wallet are also present, along with the locking wheel-nut key and unused can of tyre-inflation foam. The cherished registration ‘H6 EXG’ is included in the sale.
