2014 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 XS UTILITY

This 2014 Land Rover Defender 110 XS Utility in five-seater form is a superb go-anywhere vehicle, presented with a number of cosmetic and performance-enhancing modifications to make it an even better all-rounder. Under the bonnet sits the 2.2-litre inline-four turbodiesel engine, which has been remapped to produce 160bhp and 310lb-ft of torque, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. The odometer currently indicates 36,210 miles from new.

First registered in September 2014, this Defender 110 has been in the vendor’s possession for two years. During their ownership, the car has received significant upgrades to the suspension, steering, engine ECU, lighting, and interior trim, totalling in excess of £9,000.

Eibach comfort springs have been installed, and the shock absorbers have been swapped to FOX remote reservoir fully adjustable dampers, while heavy duty Adrenalin 4x4 front strut towers have also been fitted. The car now rides on 16-inch Twisted sport alloy wheels. Gwyn Lewis heavy duty 30mm stainless steel track rod and drag link bars have been added with a drop arm conversion kit and a Bilstein steering damper is also installed. The engine has been remapped by Quantum Tuning, and it has a LOF Powerspring clutch assist kit.

The bodywork of this Defender presents in excellent order, with smooth panels and no evidence of any previous accidents. The vendor also notes that the windscreen frame and blocks have been replaced under the Land Rover corrosion warranty this year, while the rear cross-member has been refinished with Buzzweld black paint. When they acquired the car, it was treated to a single-stage machine detail and ceramic coating.

Today, the rare Loire Blue paintwork still looks superb, with just a few small stone chips to the front bonnet edge and a very small scratch below the nearside headlight surround, as well as a small scuff to the driver’s door sill. The wheel arches and roof have been refinished in gloss black, extended wheel arch spats have been installed and there are also mud flaps for all four wheels. Its front grille, headlight surrounds, top wing vents and side vents have been swapped for black KBX items, and there is also a heavy duty gloss black front bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The front headlights have been upgraded to JW Speaker LED items with half halo DRLs, and there is also crystal LED lighting at the front and rear, as well as smoked side repeater lenses. The wing mirror caps have been changed to gloss black casings, and there is a satin black heavy duty steering guard bash plate fitted. Stainless steel security door hinges have also been installed, and there is a Mantec swing-away wheel carrier and towing electrics fitted.

Moving inside, the XS specification includes air-conditioning, heated seats, a heated front screen and electric windows, and the cabin has been re-trimmed with Exmoor Trim leather, in a two-tone colour combination of red and black. The seats sit on Exmoor risers, while the cabin has also been fitted with stainless steel door trim finishers all round, black aluminium seat box corner protectors, Alcantara headlining and sun visors, as well as extra sound deadening in the flooring. An aftermarket glove box has been installed, along with rear side storage pods and cargo nets. There is also a CTEK battery monitor fitted to show the status of the battery and a Bosch adjustable wiper relay.

This Defender also features a Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth calling connectivity, privacy glass for the rear row windows, rear door window and Alpine windows. The vendor has indicated some slight wear to the driver’s footwell mat, but the door cards, dashboard controls and upgraded Moto-Lita steering wheel present in good order. All of the car’s electrics are reported to work as they should, and there are no warning lights on the dashboard.

During the current ownership, both front swivel housings have been replaced and rebuilt with new parts. The front radius arms, rear trailing arms, panhard rod and rear A-frame ball joint have all been fitted with uprated SuperPro bushes. New anti-roll bar drop links and bushes have also been installed, and the turbocharger boost pipe has been replaced. Prior to the vendor’s ownership, it was looked after by Pentland Land Rover, with services on record in March 2018 and December 2016, and by Frank Ogg Land Rover when serviced in 2015 and for the PDI in 2014 – as per Land Rover’s online service history tool.

The most recent MOT test was on 2 November 2020 at 36,106 miles, which resulted in a pass with one advisory to monitor rust on the inner faces of the rear brake discs. The wheels come wrapped with Hankook DynaPro ATM All Terrain tyres in size 265/75/R16, which the vendor reports are six months old, have covered around 1,200 miles, and still have around 10mm of tread remaining.

Accompanying this Defender are the original handbook and service book in their leather wallet, though main dealer services are also recorded in Land Rover’s online portal.

This Land Rover Defender 110 XS Utility is a superb off-roader, which has been fitted with a number of significant mechanical upgrades to make it more usable and comfortable on the road, and cosmetic revisions to give it a bespoke appearance. It is presented in a handsome and rare factory colour, and is ready for whatever the next owner requires; from versatile family transport through to more adventurous off-road duties.
