2013 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 XS

This 2013 Land Rover Defender 90 XS is a comprehensively upgraded and very well-cared for example of the iconic 4x4, presented in Corris Grey over a black interior. Powered by a tuned version of the 2.2-litre DT224 engine producing 185bhp, all four wheels are driven via a six-speed manual transmission with both high and low-range gearing. The odometer indicates 49,350 miles from new.

First registered on 17 July 2013 and showing just three prior keepers on the log book, the vendor has owned this Defender 90 for six months. The car has been the subject of a number of performance-enhancing upgrades, making this a very unique ’90’ indeed. A full breakdown of the upgrades is available below, but highlights include the overhauled interior, a full JE Engineering ‘Tune +’ package boosting the power output to 185bhp, a comprehensive brake upgrade, fitment of a Kevlar clutch, and a stainless steel sports exhaust.

The Corris Grey paintwork is in great condition, and benefits from a number of contrasting black elements, including aftermarket upgrades. These include a black wrap covering the roof panel and a black KBX front grille, headlight surrounds and wing vents. The headlights, sidelights and indicators have been upgraded to modern LED offerings, and numerous Optimill billet aluminium components including door handles and hinges have been fitted.

Inside, the standard Land Rover front seats have been replaced with a set of upmarket Exmoor Trim examples which are in excellent shape, while the rear seats are the factory-fitted half-leather items. The interior has also received a full complement of soundproofing, comprised of a mix of Dynamat and Silent Coat acoustic panels. In addition to this, the standard stereo has been upgraded to a touch-screen Pioneer unit with smartphone connectivity, along with the heater controls being replaced with metal sliders. A quick-release steering wheel and Optimill billet aluminium swivel lock replace the stock Land Rover items.

In addition to the aesthetic upgrades mentioned above, this Defender 90 has also been tuned by JE Engineering to produce 185bhp from the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, including the fitment of an uprated intercooler. The vehicle also benefits from a quick-shift kit, upgraded HiSpec Motorsport six-piston front calipers with 360mm front discs and four-pot rear calipers with 290mm discs, braided brake hoses, a professionally fitted lowering kit, and a Land Rover sump guard.

Of particular note is a full rust-proofing treatment by chassis protection specialist ‘Before ’n’ After’. This treatment was carried out during 2018, and comes with a 10-year guarantee until February 2028.

While the Defender will be handed over with its 2021 service carried out, the most recent service currently on record was in June 2020 at 48,314 miles by Belle Vue Garage in Cleobury Mortimer, which comprised of a standard annual service. Prior to this, the vehicle was serviced during 2019 at 33,369 miles, including the fitment of uprated silicone turbocharger hoses and a Red Booster clutch servo, along with a new master cylinder. In 2018, a new Kevlar clutch and Ashcroft Transmissions uprated transfer shaft were fitted, along with an Alive Tuning stainless steel exhaust. A full servicing summary is included below.

The vehicle went through its last MOT on 3 June 2020 with ease, passing first time with no advisory items. It will also have a fresh 12-month MOT certificate ready for handover to the next owner. All five wheels are shod in 285/65 BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres, which are in good condition with plenty of remaining tread.
